Here's my Package of High Quality Weapon effects for Dark Avatar & Dread Lords!

It was 20 hours of work and developing and I hope I could make Combats a bit cooler.

hi, well the fighter hangars come seperately cause I have to change more xml file stuff, and that would make the whole mod not MV compatible.

Well, I don't think the MV stuff is worth worrying too much about... the effects, while they don't trigger the cheat flag, don't seem to show up in my MV games (seeing as there's a separate MV gc2types.xml that is loaded for MV games).

Unfortunate.

I like the v2.0 Beta...the turret effects are really cool. I have a question though, originally, I tried to set-up the weapon effects to work from a mod directory, rather than installing in the main folders. The mod didn't work. What I discovered is that you can keep the GC2Types.xml file in a mod folder (rather than overwriting the original GC2Types.xml file), but the GFX and SFX files have to be in the main folders, otherwise it doesn't work. Do you (or any of teh devs that might see this post) have any idea why this is the case. At any rate, it is useful to know that you can run the GC2Types.xml file from a mod folder rather than doing an overwrite.

I am astounded by the weapon gfx.   
But the turrets make things look like a cartoon. Out of nowhere this big turret pops up and fires, then dissapears. When they appear they make my small ships look like ants carrying a full size tank turret. My small ships multiply in length considerabely just becuase this huge turret sticks out for a few seconds and then dissappears. It's...well... anyoing quite frankly. It's like that on all of my ships. They are very noticeable even on the biggest hull size the game has. They appear out of nowhere, fire and then go away. I'm not trying to be mean. I love the weapon gfx. But the turrets need to be scalled down a lot, I mean a lot, and made to be visible on the ship the whole time or taken out completley. For me they just take the fun out of battles. I'm not a little kid, I don't watch cartoons anymore. Is there anyway to disable the turrets? If so could you tell me? Don't get me wrong, I love the new weapons. The turrets that make themselves bigger than life on my ships, no matter the size, is what I'm having a problem with. Thanks for the great weapon and impact gfx.   Keep up the good work.

@formis6 : thanks, when I first made the Mod, I thought it would be better to overwrite the main gc2types, so it functions together with other mods =O) .
Ps: I don't have a clue why this is the case ^^

@uglycow: Hi thank you, the turrets are integrated in the animations, therefore they disappear with the end of the animation and scale with the distance of the enemy ship (there is no other way to make turrets for this game by modding). Thats a difficult situation, some like the turrets, some not, I'll try to make 2 versions of it, one with one without, but this need some time

For the Star Wars Mod you will definitely need to do some green pulse laser effects with corresponding sound to emulate the imperial Turbo Lasers and orange ones for the alliance style Lasers if you feel like doing them a favor.
I just wished I had the time and knowledge to supoprt rav with the B5 mod...

Well I support the starwars mod, unfortunately the team broke of naja was soll man machen^^

but well lets wait and see

I plan with my I-Mod Team a complete overhaul of GC2 DA , high graphics new ships (selfmade) and 200 weapons (10 weapon versions to 20 weapon types (divided to the 3 main groups)

I tried re-doing the effects as a mod folder - and now it works. The only thing that was different was an update of Dark Avatar itself. At any rate, I thought the you might be interested to know that your effects mod can be run entirely from a separate mod folder for those that do not wish to copy the mod to the main directory of DA.

I am looking forward to future versions of your weapons effects...they are great!

@sushitrip: just copy the files into main GC2 folder, finish (make backup of gc2types first)

@sir on the edge: right, but ultra violet was thought for Doomray so I limitted the laser at blue.

hope you like it.

The next weapons I make will come with patch 1.7 therefore I'll pause this mod here.

but after summer, a new Mod will be started, containing douzens of new weapons.

i know stefan, ive tried that, i unzip it and copy the whole file; stefans weapons pak into the folder with the debug err file, activate, sfx, gfx, ect. and nothing happens

actually wut im doing is replacing the weapons folder; galciv2/darkavatar/gfx/weapons with the one in the mod (is that wut ur suppose to do in the first place??? lol) and those work but i cant get the sounds to work =/ even though i replaced the original ones

all directories inside my package, (gfx, sfx, data) please copy them into your mainfolder but first make a backup of (galciv2/data/gc2types.xml)

then it functions.

to your first post: you shall overwrite your gamefiles, then you should make a backup, if you're not overwriting then you copied it anywhere wrong.

well sorry I'm not your debugger, you either copied the files wrong or you have an other bug, I can't help you, just follow the descriptions and everything should be ok.
if you follow your debug error, you should recognize some other bugs which has no connection to the files of my mod (can't find fleet ...,Debug Message: No files found matching mask Gfx\Planets\C0*.png) well hmm something is wrong with your game, try a new installation...
