Gift Planet

Has anyone in their experience with DL ever been given a planet in trade, or as a freebie? It seems preposterous, but possible.

I've given them away as gifts. I figured since they are such prized possessions that the civ would have everlasting gratitude.

Instead they surrendered to someone else (even after lot of help from me) when a war they were in went bad. It was kind of stupid. They were the Altarians I was the Terrans; the Krynn were wiping them out and they surrender to the Yor? Talk about divergent cultures.

It didn't really make sense...so no more planet gifting until it's fixed.

Planets are virtually worthless in DL. You have to play galciv1 to get a more realistic value of planets.

I've sold junk planets to the AI for peanuts. I figure those class-2's are a real drain on the economy and I can flip them back anyway, so might as well make it drain his economy--not mine. They make great white elephant gifts.

I've also gotten planets from the AI as terms of a peace treaty. But they have to be far away from their home world.

that would work if you were playing against other humans, but really, do you think the AI has the same horrific economic balances a player does?

i would bet those AI's would still manage to benefit from those planets, in which case it would not even be worth the mouse click of selecting the planet to sell them for 1 or 2bc.
