DL and DA Core Ship design bug

with another little UI bug bonus

https://serval.homelinux.org/~weslem/GC2/
I've been having a consistent error with both DL and DA. Some of the race's core ship designs appear bizarre and corrupted. The error is 100% reproducible, and happens in the shipyard, appearance selector, and the main game map. This occurred from a fresh installation, and has persisted through uninstall/reinstalls, user-data wipes, and combinations of these. The DL errors occur without DA installed, so I don't think it is caused by Dark Avatar.

Here is an example from DL: DL-Yor. Only the chassis appears! By using the upgrade option in the shipyard, I can see all the components listed above the ship, but none appear there either. Each component has the scale slider all the way to the left, and by increasing that, the component will pop into view, starting from the base components.

Here is a really amusing one from DA: DA-Drengin. All the components seem to be there, but at bizarre angles.

The rest of my error screenshots can be seen at my website. I've never had a working installation of DA, so I made my best guess at what was erroneous.

well if you've never had a working installation for DA, either the CD or the download was corrupted somehow.

The core ships are generally crap, although they can look pretty cool.

I don't think it was corrupted, as it passed the SDC integrity checks. In any case, I have re-downloaded it several times experimenting to see if I could find the cause of the error. It's come up every time, with the same manifestation. I've even tried using different Windows accounts, to make sure I was starting from a fresh setup.

wierd, well to start with, maybe a debug err from your last game? I don't have any idea how to help you but its standard procedure to post a debug err as often times the source of the problem can be found in there.

You'd have to wait until tomorrow when the devs get back or at least a forumer with lots of technical knowledge.

Actually, it does look like there were some errors this time with double-buffering. I'm not sure if that was what caused the visible errors, but who knows....

did you make sure your AMD has its latest update? Alot of people have been posting lately with the AMD processor and there are issues with it which are fixed with the latest dual core update. Which is why I'm asking.

There are a whole bunch of debug errors in the DA one, but I can't help you there.

It looks like it has the latest. I have a single core/processor AMD Opteron, and I took a look around the AMD website, following the link for multi-core processor updates, and there aren't any updates that apply to my chip.

I have no idea man, I'd like to help, but sounds like it could be deep in the technical stuff. The devs will be back on tomorrow though.

Are you using European decimilization in your windows regional settings? Missing parts and odd rotation may be caused by the game finding a comma or period where it expects the other.

Thank you, Kryo! I am indeed using European decimilization. I will change my windows locale settings. Thanks for your help, everyone!

Here's one related to this. In my shipyard there are hull's of all sizes that appear to be a 'square' with attachment points literally everywhere. Is this a bug or a sort of 'generic' hull that can be made using the accessories? I didn't read anything about them being in the game, but I could've missed something. Anyone know what I'm speaking of?

It's a 'brick' hull similar in concept to my mod's blank hulls. New feature in DA.

Ahhh, sweet. I thought I was losing it a little when I saw those! Thanks again!
