OK - will be 37 this year, living for the last couple years in India, working as a consultant (call centers)....had me an Apple IIE a long long time ago...really don't remember what was played on it(though I think Balance of Power and Lance Haffner text sports games come to mind). I love games that reach out and grab you and want to make you keep them on your HD - the trouble is these days is that not many come out like that - I can't wait till I get the GalCiv disc by post here in Delhi....some great games: Civ1, Master of Magic, Panzer General, Europa Universalis, Championship Manager 1,2, and 3(this is one of the best sports stratey games on the planet), MOO1 &2, to name a few....don't care much for RTS - I'm trying very hard to like Hearts of Iron now, but for some reason it's not doing it for me like EU did...I think honestly it's a very good sign that GalCiv is supported by the older crowd, who really know the value of a game - that is to say, if you are going to invest time & energy in a game, it better be worth it!

I'm 22, Canadian (Quebec). I worked in Morroco for some time and now i'm in Paris since 2001. Played MOO1, MOM, Civ 1, Sid Mayer's Colonization, Hero's Quest ...
First CPU was a TSR80 with tape cassette drive (OMG!!).

And I love Galactic Civilizations

I'm 46 (47 next month). GalCiv was an early b-day present from me to me...yay!!!!

Strike! I feel good now! I'm young! Being 19 and turning 20 in August, I must say I am really surprised that the average GalCiv player is that old... But who cares. I still can remember playing text-only games. Yeah, that is *TEXT-ONLY*, people... Man was I young THERE.

just gotta say im suprised, everyone is 30-40's usually, not many 20's our younger. Take counter-strike for instance there, the avg age is 13 or so

That's because couterstrike (a great game) is like Jolt cola sweat and fast. While Galciv is an aged scotch you drink it slow and savor the flavor.

I'm 33 here. Don't surprise me many players of this type of game are in the 30 range anyway. The community is the same for the Civilization series as well. Like many of you its the kind of games we all had grown up playing. I have alot of friends my age who are the same way. Anyway, I still need to get GalCiv, I should have it in a few days

I can't believe it - at 33, I'm almost in the average here. Most of the time, I feel like I should be all those gamers' father :notsure:

Oh, and like most of the 30-40 people, my first computer was in the 80s - Spectrum 48, then Atari ST. Then a few years later I moved to the dull dull dull PC...

As for wargames - mostly it was Squad Leader, then Advanced Squad Leader for me. I still sometimes kid myself I'll start playing again soon - though I honestly don't believe I'll find the time.
