AncientAge, just crank the AI down to "drooling on self" and hope for a good starting position, pick the good (as opposed to evil) choices, suck up to the good players, make alliances, and hope for an alliance win. Maybe make everyone but the Drengin good to make sure you don't handicap your team too much. It's still not a sure thing, but if you can keep the peace between the good alignments. Sacrifice some KFC to the gods of colesterol, and you can probably knock that down to a year, two at most.

I'm surprised to see that I'm in the middle at 31. Started gaming at 13 on apple 2's at school, playing Ultima 3 progressed to Atari 130Xe playing Alternate Reality-The City. My favorite wargame was Crusade in Europe for that platform.

Old modular SPI game is Strategy I, my copy is on a shelf behind me. I'm another that fell to the S&T lifetime trap. I didn't realize it was their lifetime and it lasted just shy of two years for me.

SPI also put out the Blitzkreig Module System, essentially piggybacking new rules and counters onto Blitkreig.

But my favourite SPI game is War in Europe. So much so that I bought the computer version of it and now play by email with a couple friends I played the boardgame with 20 years ago!

Ah, these youngsters don't know what they missed.

Funny you should say that, about better living through chemistry I mean.

Back in the 60's (yes, the ninteen 60's) I had long hair, passed my shoulders, and a bushy red beard. (think red headed, dwarven, sling wielding, cleric).

Then I went through my compulsory computer analyst/programmer consultant period. Neatly trimmed . . .

I have since recovered.

And now am sitting here with the hair back to full length but a sort of coppery grey, with a long almost white beard (think Gandalf the Grey).

So far I'm the youngest. I am less than 3 weeks from my 64's birthday. (You are only as old as you feel. Besides, retirement leads to your second childhood.)

I used to think that was true; "you are only as old as you feel".

But that was when I felt better then my age.

Now I don't beleive it so much.

Nobody could be that old.

Here i was bemoaning my addiction to computer games at the ripe old age of 33. You guys definitely reiterate the point "you are only as old as you think". I did say "think" not feel.
