Can I give negative ability modifiers?

I'm really enjoying race personalization which is possible in DA, so i wonder if I can give every race some negative ability modifiers. For example if i want to give -20% diplomacy, -20% military production can i do it in race config?

Yes, most abilities will accept negative values if you add them manually in the race file.

For "most" you mean all abilities which have a percentage?
So the only excluded are Sensors,Logistics,Speed and Range?

Range will take negative values. The others may not, or at least it would be pretty senseless and crippling to do so.

Actually it seems that you can not give negative modifiers to civs.
I have given "-20" "-10" in raceconfig abilities but races don't get any penalty.

Make sure you are putting it in the named fields, and not the <ABILITYN> fields (those determine the picks, not the natural abilities). Also if you're editing the base raceconfig file make sure you delete any .raceconfigxml files that would override your changes.

I just changed a race's raceconfigxml file to have -10 in all abilities, and it showed the penalties in the race select as expected.

Kryo what do you mean for named fileds and ABILITYN fields?
In Raceconfig.xml i see only all these fields economics, research sensors and so on which correspond to base natural abilities of every race.
I have tried for example to give Korx instead of +15% economy, +25% economy in game but there wasn't any change to Korx base economy ability which remained at 15%.
What i have done was just changing the value in < Economics > to Korx in Raceconfig.xml from 15 to 25.What am i doing wrong?

Kryo BTW there is any chance in a future patch we can also assign negative points to ability for Races, without having to change Raceconfig, IMO that option would make Racial personalization a lot better, because Races would be a lot more different.

Any time you play as a race a RaceName.raceconfigxml file is made for that race in My Documents\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar. Those files contain entries for the natural abilities (which are named as you'd expect) and ability point picks (which are simply numbered as I said).

If there is a RaceName.raceconfigxml file for the race you are trying to alter it will simply override whatever changes you made. So if you are trying to alter the base files (there's really no need to though, since you can change things just as much through the RaceName.raceconfigxml, and in DA the AI can use those files rather than requiring the base files to be modded), you will need to delete those files so the game will make new ones based on your changes.

Thanks Kryo.I was using High Resolution Graphic by LogicSequence which has its own raceconfig.xml so modifying it, negative modifiers appears now.
