"Speak To . . "

computer speaking for me?? & Another Question

I was playing a game and I noted that many times the other races contacted me to ask for things or to make me "aware" of some ulterior motives of other races. That's cool. but then I noticed that the computer was contacting other races on my behalf!!! And the contacted race would say "Thanks knownalien, but we have very close relations with [insert race]. Perhaps your informant was mistaken."

Is it supposed to do that? In fact, the message was quite wrong. I had great relations with the one I was apparently trying to stab in the back.

2nd question, with reguard to the Jagged Knife, why can I not get any of the other races to acknowledge their existence. I wanted to get other races (not minor ones) to help me in my war with them, but the drop down box does not contain the Jagged Knife.

Curious. Where did you see this at?

just in my game. A communication window would pop up from the Altarian resistance and the first few times I assumed they were talking to me and I was too busy to really read it. Then around the 3rd time I noted that the upper portion was apparently ME talking to her warning her of another race (The Dominion of Korx I believe) and then a response from here in which she replied as in the opening post.

Did you use ctrl-N a few times? I used it a few times and it gave me really screwy results. For example, tech-trading was happening even though originally I had selected tech-trading OFF.
It also changed a few aliens' personality traits, I believe.

^^^ I don't use any hot-keys. also, like you, settings I chose never happened. I turned mega events in a new game and I still get them. I chose to play the game "windowed" (as opposed to full screen) and that doesn't work. It stays in fullscreen.

why would I want it windowed? To see my CPU and GPU temps so that if the game crashes (and it has twice) I can see if it is a heat issue (not likely to be since my system is watercooled).

If you set windowed mode but don't lower the resolution below that of your desktop, it will still *look* like fullscreen, even though it's technically not.

Never heard of water cooling? It's been going on for a couple of years, heh heh

I've got a water cooled FX-57 processor and two water cooled 7800 gtx graphic cards.

googled it and it looks like some technical stuff (and really only works for desktops and not laptops I think, plus considering the equipment needed), and I don't keep track of that sort of technical stuff, so thats prob why I haven't heard of it.

Rather than just having fans and heatsinks on everything, coolant is pumped through tubes to the various components then run through a single radiator, similar to the system in a car engine.

This sounds like it could be related to a problem I posted elswhere about "running into myself" in a DA game.

Kryo, have the devs throughly scoffed the idea that the game might be losing its grip on identities? It seems possible they could have introduced stuff between the last public beta & RTM that slipped through internal testing.
