I wanna see the computer play itself without me invovled. Any know how i can do this?

As the title says, I wanna see the computer play itself without me invovled. I saw
a video where someone was watching the AI play itself. I want to do this to so i can see how the AI plays and get some tips.

Does anyone know how to do this? if its possible.

bump.

I'd like to know, too... not just so I can learn, but so I can test out new custom civs and stuff if anyone can help, thanks!

I think I remember a dev talking about it (I think the name started with a 'c'), but I don't know if it was part of any release.

I don't see how , and besides you can watch the comp play itself all the time. Each race plays independently so if you have multiple races in the game besides your self your seeing the comp play itself !

Try using the spies... when you place a spy (or start to) you see everything built on the planet. It takes time and patience, that's all. Send your ships out to scout the planets, buy some spies, and take notes. 'Voila! Tout que vous avez besoin est quelques imbéciles occupés simples qui feront n'importe quoi pour l'argent, et vous pouvez conquérir la galaxie !

Well, they do it somehow. That's how they test and tweak the AI, you know...

But the problem with what you suggest is that since you're in the game, the AI is responding to not only what it originally is supposed to do, but has to respond to counter what you do. It's similar to if you walk into some alien culture, they aren't just going to ignore you and continue being themselves, they're going to react to your being there and anything you do.

I believe the devs do it with the debugger, not something available to us. I think it would be cool to put the various AIs against each other and see which really does come out on top.

I SORTA found out how to do it...

Step one: Create shortcut, and after it title "cheat", which unlocks the abilities to enter special key functions

Step two: Ctrl + U reveals the entire map

Step three: Ctrl + Alt + Z enables auto-turns and the computer takes over for you (after you end the turn).

Step four: Pressing Ctrl + Alt + Z on another civ's colony ships allows you to enter their screens instead of your original civ, but to do this you have to start & stop on that civ's colony ship.

That's what I've figured out so far... not sure if there is any more to it than that, but that's a big step forward!

My next question is if there is any way to get an AI to mimic your playing style after it watches you play enough times, because the default AI take-over from a custom civ (unless you make it one of the opponents instead of the one you start with) really sucks (it's called "Generic AI"). I tried this out about 10 times, each time the Generic AI got last by quite a bit, but when I used other AI's for it (Altarian, Human, Iconian) it did pretty well and was usually one of the better ones, and if it wasn't for a major break by one usually weak civ it would have won the 10-civ game)
