Cool Mega Events

Alright, I've had 2 seriously cool megaevents.

1. The Jagged Knife appears, and takes 3 planets from each civ and has the combined techs of all involved. The only odd thing was that...we were at peace even tho the event described as something of an insurrection or rebellion.

2. Pirate swarms. Swarms! They murdered all my trade routes, all my lightly defended starbases and decimated my fledgling military! Woohoo for good pirates! Or bad pirates! Or whatever! Anyway, I thought it was cool, even tho they waxed me. Too bad they didn't make demands too... "Well...it'd be awful if you lost that trade route there...but I'm selling protection for trade routes for...oh...500BC..." I'm still digging that game out from the pirates.

Thanks for better pirates! Woohoo!

Anyone else have some cool mega events?

Well, the mega event happened where a race gets +1 in each ability every turn, or something like that. One of my custom races, the Paulos (Not the minor race, a major race) got that ability. I was Super Manipulator, and wasn't about to wait around. I got everyone to declare war on that person. The next turn, I traded several techs and BC (I had been staying out of wars, building up) to that person in exchange for all of his ships. He surrendered to the Yor next turn.

So, it wasn't very unbalancing, save for that the Yor got a bunch of free systems. It seems to me that being able to use the Super Manipulator like that is unbalancing in itself.

We're not having fun yet. So we should throw in some plague.

Seriously though. It turns the universe upside down and shakes things up, but you can still win it. It will take some doing, but hey.

Is that the one where the race finds a precursor artifact and will eventually become godlike?

I don't get the whole pirate things...are there actually ships of these? I've never ever seen a pirate ship...even with the events happening. :\

I have the Peacekeeper's event, and now all over the map there are swarms of Peacekeeper fleets that are insanely strong and wiping out everything on the map. Thankfully they are just battleships and 0 troop transports, cuz the way they tore through my fleet, the korath, the drengin, the terrans, etc. in only 2 or 3 turns makes me think their ground forces would slaughter us wholesale as well.

I got an event that wiped out EVERYONE'S influence points a little past mid-game such that all the civilizations' borders went back to their planetary defaults (it was labeled as a "wave of xenophobia"). Needless to say, several asteroid fields swapped hands and now an Influence Victory (fortunately I wasn't aiming for that goal this time around) is pretty much impossible.

I got the best one out of all of you, you're going to love this.

Ahem... The Terran Empire has discovered a precursor artifact... blah blah blah etc... All planets within 2 sectors of the Sol system... something about them becoming class 13.

... Happy hunting me! (captures over half of those planets)

I challenge anyone to beat that Mega Event.

That's not a mega event, it's been in since DL. There's a xenophilia event as well, which expands everyone's influence. They're analogous to the boom and recession econ events.

I heard that there's a Draginol event as well, does something like summon a group like the dread lords but instead it happens to be a civ that's already on the map that gets boosted (ex. Draginol comes into contact with the terrans and turns them into a race with all kinds of impossibly powerful attributes and a full weapons tech tree... YEESH!!!) Can anyone confirm?

Are we ever able to get that precursor artifact and have all the AI fighting to stop us?
