The zen of Mega-population planets

very undocumented and confusing

I am having difficulty cultivating the information from the forums about how to manage population fo 20billion and higher. This is poorly documented with the official stuff, and there are a few points of confusion

1. Apparently the secret police center and galactic resort morale bonuses have a magic morale bonus that is different from the the bonus of the normal morale buildings. apparently, there is an undocumented penalty for the normal buildings based on high population At the 20 billion point, is it worthwhile to keep the normal buildings?

2. Rumor has it that approval stops shrinking at the 25 billion mark. Is this true?

3. some have said that there is no point to very high population planets, since tax income is based on a square root of soemthign or other. Does anyone know if thsi is true?

Not that i know of? The secret police centre has no special morale benefit, on that basis it is quite worthless. However it does do one useful thing - prevents defection! I heard that one from 'Kryo'.

i'm not sure if it stops altogether or just the exponential dive levels off?

More likely not worth while because of the space needed by all the farms and morale buildings verses having stock markets.

1. Your better off with VRCs for pure morale benefit

2. Yes, it stops declining at 25B, I've had 100B planet with 1.4 it isn't worth it. Your morale will decline sharply from 20B up to 25B. At 20B I usually only need three VRCs but at 25 that can easily go up to six or more, depending on the tax level your trying to hold.
3.The reason it's not worth it is cause, you can make more at 20B usually due to having room for plenty of stock markets, but when your have to add a bunch of VRCs they usually have to replace the stock markets unless you have a really high PQ planet. Even then you would make more filling all the spots with SMs over using the room for the VRCs and farms.

Secret Police does provide a morale benefit. It is the Propaganda Center that prevents rebelling and defections.

Build lots and LOTS of morale buildings... No, scrap that. Its just not worth the damage to your Aproval. Just fill a system of about 3 planets with <17mil pops, MUCH safer!

I posted a bug about the Secret Police Center & Galactic Resort in the DA beta. I only tested the Galactic Resort in DA Gold, and what I know is that it is just another 25% morale building. For a Super Project, you would expect it to confer some special morale bonus, but it doesn't.

Secret Police Center I haven't tested yet. But I did in the beta, and it was just another 20% morale building. That was more problematic, because in the blurb it says the SPC is supposed to improve the BASE morale by 20%. I built a SPC and my morale was very clearly going up by less than 20%.

Yeah, the Galactic Resort is pretty bad. In my last game, just to try it out and see if there was some side-effect not obvious in the description, I replaced a VRC with it...and the approval on the planet went down 5 or 6 points the instant I finished it with a rushbuy.

And the secret police project. Which makes the secret police centre better than the propaganda centre because of the added little bit of morale boost.
