Korx doesn't take advantage of its superability

Korx get all trade techs, unlike this early good advantage they never research Galactic Privateer and Galactic Bazaar which are really fit for Korx abilities.
I have played 3 games and Korx was never able to build one of these wonders also when i had already researched Photon torpedoes Tech which are mid game techs, despite they could be able to build both of them since turn 1.

They always try to build them in my games but the Korx AI is a right donkey. Often it will try to build huge projects before building a decent amount of factories so hasn't enough production to complete them before someone else. The Korx AI in my experience is pretty poor in most if not all areas.

You may think the Krox AI is pretty bad, but from my experience, the Krox are usually one of the last races standing. Now its possible this has something to do with my play style, but I doubt it since I don't have any really off the wall strategies.

I do agree with the OP, it seems to me that the Krox don't really utilize their ability... Unless they are sending out waves of trade routes before everyone... Hmmm, I'll be on the look out for that next time!

From what I've seen, they always tend to get out at least a couple trade routes relatively early. However, they do need to compete in the colony rush just like everybody else, and early on those trade ships and especially the "wonders" like Galactic Privateer can be really expensive, both in up-front cost and in opportunity cost.

What has always scared me the most is not that the Korx would build Galactic Privateer first, but the Restaurant of Eternity.

I guess it depends on what your early build cue is like.

In DL early games, I was:

25% Mil
25% Social
50% Research

I made my home world the massive manufacturing capitol, spec'ed it for Military production and churned out ships as fast as possible.

DA has been different. Since I haven't played Korx yet in DA, I've been opting to make my home world my tech capitol and let my ships build more slowly over time. If I followed my old DL strategy and concentrated on ships, I could probably go Colony, Constructor, Freighter. Repeat until I have max freighter in route.

That would put you behind colony wise, but by getting those trade routes up early you should have a stronger economy for it. Especially since it seems trade routes now increase in value over time. Factor in the double trade revenue and their +50 Trade racial ability and they should be very liquid by mid-game.

As for the Korx always being one of the last races left, that's because I've never seen a large military from them, and they are trading with all the other AI, which gives them good ++ bonuses.

As for the Korx not concentrating enough on Galactic Wonders, do you really want them going after them aggressively? Having the Korx get them every game would be worse IMO. Maybe a 1/3 chance they will go for it aggressively. That way they keep you guessing. Anything to make the AI less predictable.

I have never seen anything too impressive from the Korx that I can remember. They are just....there. And then eventually they aren't. I never have wonderfully huge wars\battles with them, and they are never my steadfast ally. Like one of the other posters, it could just be that my play style is somehow different that the Korx AI plays, so that some things just never happen.

The Korx are always one of the most powerful races in my game, if they survive the early game that is. It always seems like they have a huge military, but unfourtunatly they don't seem to react to "culture attacks", my preferred method of gaining planets. I did notice one time however that they had started to build a Galactic Privateer on one of thier planets (I had just flipped it), but this was pretty late in the game and they only had one enhanced factory on that planet. I tried to fix the build order to make it complete faster, but I won an influence victory before that happened (thats how late in the game it was) only time I've ever seen them do it, but the stupid part was that they had plenty of planets that could have completed it in 20-30 turns or so.

i wonder how well the Korx would do better using another AI - the Terran or Arcean.

I would like to see that.

Well, you just have to customize the Korx to make them use another AI while keeping their super ability

Would be nice to get a devs opinion on this topic as a problem with one of the AI's should have been found during beta testing already.

To be honest i have never played the Korx and don't usually have them in my game. However as PP states, simply changing their AI to a more aggressive AI may rectify the issue in the short term. However please remember that each AI has been custom created to use its own super ability and giving it a different one will mean it is not using it to the full capacity.
