Did you try re-installing GalCiv2? You're missing a lot of strings, and while that wouldn't cause a crash, another missing file could.

Your video drivers are a year and a half out of date as well.
You should update them.

And it would be a good idea to increase your swap file size. You should have at least 2GB for a swap file, especially with that little bit of ram.

even the same.... i have reinstall included the german translation and i have increase my swapfile....

Thats frustated me why i have payed for a game which ia cannot play?!?!?!?

Does the game run fine for you in the 1.0 version? If so then it may well be some issue with the German files in 1.4x. You might want to try switching your game to English, and reinstalling via Stardock Central to ensure you get all the English files.

To switch to english, save the GC2English.reg file from here to your computer, then run it and confirm that you want to merge it to the registry. Then uninstall and reinstall via SDC (I believe the European game discs are specifically set to only install the language they are localized to).

If that does not work, you can switch back to German by using the GC2German file from that location and repeating the process.

Did you have this problem when you first played the copy of the game you bought in the store? That is, it only started to crash like this after you installed a patch?

first i have played the demo (with the german language)..... there i have no problems. Then i have brouhgt the game online... i haven't buy this in a story. But now the game crashed ever.

I only installed the game from stardoch and then the german language. No other patches!

You mean you added a german translation from elsewhere after installing the game from SDC?

If you are getting the German translation from somewhere else then that would explain why it is crashing, since it is probably a language file from a different version of the game, and many of the lines it needs are missing.

Like I thought, "German_LanguageMod Final Version" found on that page is for an old version of the game. That explains the crashing if you are trying to use it with the latest version.

Do this:

Right-click on this link and choose "Save target as". Save it to your computer somewhere.

Go to where you saved that file and double-click on it. You will be asked a question; click Yes.

Now with Stardock Central, uninstall the game and reinstall it. It should download the official German files this time, so you can play without using that mod which was making it crash.

Do you have an English folder also under GalCiv2\Data, or just the German one? If so, try copying the missing campaign files over.
