AI Ships

So here`s the question. Is there any possibility that the ai uses more ships?
For example there are 3 shipcfg files for frigates at the moment (frigate1, 2 and 3). If I write a frigate4.shipcfg, is there any way to get the ai to use this in the game?

I'll try and find out from the devs about this, but I'm thinking probably not (not in addition to the existing ones that is).

I remember hearing the Torians would have loads of cheap ships beacause the Torians are like roaches. But that is odd, seeing that they can research doomrays. This kind takes some of the taste out of them.
