I updated midgame and it didn't have any noticeable impact. I suspect it's just a bug/compatibility thing since there aren't any patch notes up.

When is this 1.50 patch going to be avaliable for download from the webpage downloads section? and what does it do? where are the official release notes?

I updated midgame and had no problems. There are no release notes since this is just minor bugfix and DA compatibility stuff.

The only difference is that the launcher supports Norwegian version strings. No changes to the game.

The 1.5 version contains a few assorted bug fixes that the devs found when working on DA, but the primary change is DA compatibility. If you don't have DA, I don't believe it has anything hugely major in it for you aside from fixing the lack of surrender/war declaration messages that was in 1.4x.

Are saved games compatible between versions or do I have to start over if I upgrade?

There aren't any gameplay changes, so they should be fine.
