GC2 Gold Retail

Installing and updating?

Okay, just picked up my copy of Gold at Best Buy...excellent. A few questions first, however. Am I good to go as far as updates, or once installed from the discs will I need to update to 1.5 (I work from dial-up so updating is slow unfortunately)? Also, is it best to go into Stardock Central and uninstall my original GC2-CE, or should I just install and overwrite it with the GC2-DA Gold edition?

I have to say, the cost of the Gold retail was only $39.99 USD at Best Buy. I'd expected it to be around $45 to $50. Also, it contains a nice hot-key fold out, an informative manual, and both DL and DA on the same set of install discs, nice. The nostalgia lives on! Thanks Stardock for the experience. Impressive, most impressive.

Cheers!

Speaking of that hot-key foldout...

Would it be possible to make it available through Downloads so we could print our own copy?

You should be able to install over top the old one without any problem, AFAIK. There are some updates on SDC, but nothing vitally important that I'm aware of (probably some balance tweaks from after the final build went out to manufacture, and some minor fixes from yesterday). If you don't want to bother with that you should be fine until the first major patch is posted.

Installed fine, works fine, and plays great! The retail is the 1.5 version, and no further updates were needed for now. I went ahead and uninstalled the old GalCiv2-CE, just to make sure I'd have a clean install of Gold DA. Anyway, Stardock, you did a spectacular job on this expansion, and it seems to be all that I'd hoped it would be. Thanks again for your hard work, and like me, I'm sure many other PCer's out there appreciate your focused efforts. Now, back to strengthening my empire and then to conquer the galaxy!

Flagons up! Cheers
