Game will not install

The game gives no errors or anything. Everything goes fine until the game reaches 46% installed. Once there, it just stops. No error, it doesn't freeze, it just sits there. I've tried switching discs, but with no success.

It doesn't freeze, it doesn't give an error, it just suddenly stops and sits there. If anyone can help, that would be great.

Does your disc drive make any odd noises (like it's trying to read a particular part of the disc repeatedly)? If so, you likely have a bad disc. In any case though, you can also register your serial then use Stardock Central (available on the downloads page) to just download the entire game.

No, it doesn't, though when it reaches that part of the disc it does stop reading it, and then eventually the disc drive just stops altogether. It's like it's waiting for me to switch discs, but that is not the problem.

Could it be a bad CD?  Is this GalCiv II or GalCiv II Gold?
