Dark Avatar is AWESOME!

After a long absence from Galactic Civilizations II, I saw that the expansion pack was out.

I started playing last night at around 6pm. I just finished and it's 9am here.

IT IS AWESOME! Thank you Stardock for making the mother of all expansions!

I agree, one heck of an expansion! Unlike other expansions for other games that add little content and leave you feeling ripped off, Dark Avatar is loaded with stuff and 100% worth it. This said, I am completely satisfied with it so add another thanks Maybe SD has set yet another example, this time what an expansion pack really should be.

Oh my god! When do you SLEEP!?

Yes, DA is fantastic, was there ever any doubt it wouldn't be?

Congratulations SD!

Well worth $29.95 (although in GBP its only £15.00 so...hehe, still, worth every penny)

I wish I could buy it but I can't get my emails to go through to support and the emails I sent to kyro and Frogboy are not answered.I need my old and new emails merged so that you can send me my new serial number once I pay for it.

I couldn't agree more to this. A job well done. Have just convinced a GCII player to buy the expansion and attracting a new player to try'em both out. You deserve every penny you get for this!

Cheers
Mark

If you are mcleeper, I received your email and forwarded it to support, as I cannot merge accounts myself. They should be able to look at it when they return to work on Monday.

I need my e-mails merged but i still got it and it runs okay.

My shakey old thinking engine struggles to play the whole intro though so if anyone wants to post a windows version so i can watch the end of the intro that would be great

If you have anti-aliasing on, you may find video performance increases significantly if you turn AA off (particularly if you have a GeForce FX or older card).

It's not completely destroying my sleep patterns like the original poster's, but I can only agree with his assessment anyway. Incredibly well done Stardock, keep it up!

I see a bandwagon, so I'll jump on it.
I checked the site earlier today and it was really nice to see the week early announcement, all too often it's a month later one instead.
Just finished up a quick game as I'd not played GalCiv II for a while anyway, I have a feeling I'm going to be a recluse for a few days.

While I've had several hiatuses where I haven't played Galactic Civilizations II, I've always come back to it. Supreme Commander Beta sure put a dent in it, as did my stints in the most excellent Medieval II: Total War, Company of Heroes, and the serviceable Battle for Middle Earth II: Rise of the Witch King.

However, playing Dark Avatar yesterday, I can say it's vastly improved. Gone is the planet rush, gone is the "Let's use diplomacy as an 'I win!' button!"

This game is really good, and like all of the best of any genre, I'll keep it on my PC (WWW Link) and keep playing it when a yearning for "Genre: Turn Based" strikes me.

I know, once i saw it it was released on galciv2.com i instently purchased it via digital download/ send me a CD

I knew i would get a quality product, and not worry about the hassle of copy protection. I purchased it right when i saw it. I knew it was good, and my assumption was correct.

I was also in the middle of playing Medieval2-TW. I am now consumed with Dark Avatar and loving it.

The familiar GC-II DL is still there but sometimes it feels like a whole new game.

Same here. And I predict DA should stay my primary strat game for quite some time, for it enhances a lot the base game into something even more balanced.
