Finally its here. I pre-ordered DA in November and I was playing beta since then.
When I saw the announcement for the release on 14th February I hoped I could get it a little sooner through Stardock update.
So finally a week before on 6 Feb. its available for those who pre-ordered it.
(its still downloading.. can't wait)    

Yes I wanted to say that and let others know and of course thank you guys at Stardock..
(hope your servers will not slow down after my post..)   

I have 2 questions. I ordered only the download not the box version.
Will be there a link to download an exe file so I can save or burn it on CD?
Metaverse will accept the scores from DA now?

well I got to say Dam You Stardock and Frogboy!!! You now sidetracked me from my assignment which is due in tomorrow

They are being charged through in the same order they were ordered, so just keep an eye on your email for your notice.

I received an email from sales with a serial number in it, thanking me for my purchase. the link in the email caused Stardock Central to run. I could see Dark Avatar in the update tree, but it had a big "purchase" button there... What does this mean for me? Does the site think that I haven't paid for it (I have, or I wouldn't have the email from sales)? Or is it simply not available to me yet? I was one of the pre-order people, not a beta player. I'm a bit confused, because the update to Dread Lords that it installed has a version number later than the version number of Dark Avatar. Thanks!

Right-Click on Dark Avatar and hit "Register". Find DA in the list and enter your serial there. You will be able to d/l it.

Got thinking... In the opening video earths forcefield isn't enclosing the moon surely the drengin would just destroy the moon thus making living on earth unbearable if not impossible. Huge climate/tide changes etc. Thats what I would do if I were an evil conquering drengin anyway.

I only pre-ordered about a week ago. Thanks for letting us play before it gets in stores. Downloading is pretty fast about 652KB/sec.

I have a problem. The d/l is over, DA has been intalled automatically, but I can't run it.

When I start the game (from my shortcut or from SDC), I get the Welcome screen with those options : "Install Game", "Readme" (not play). If I click on Install, I receive an error message saying : "Please run setup.exe on your CD, or install using Stardock Central" (which I did).

I'm confused...

If you're having trouble with the launcher, run the game directly (GC2DarkAvatar.exe). Normally it will be located in C:\Program Files\Stardock\Totalgaming\GalCiv2\DarkAvatar.

dthif1980: There are a few things that it the welcome screen checks to ensure that the install is valid. Can you check the following things in the registry (using start/run/regedit)?
* In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Drengin.Net\GalCiv2, the values Path and EXE must exist
* In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Drengin.net\GalCiv2\DarkAvatar, the value Version must exist, and should be a value similar to 1.50.057 (specifically, it cannot be a value less than 1.5)

If some of these are not correct, it suggests that the game has not installed correctly.

If the above are all correct, then something's up - do you have any virus checking/anti-spyware tools that might be blocking script registry access? You could also try reinstalling Windows Script 5.6 in case some other application has managed to install a very old version of it.

As a temporary workaround, you should be able to just go to Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming.net\GalCiv2\DarkAvatar and run the GC2DarkAvatar.exe file to play the game.

I'd also be interested to know whether you were updating from a previous version or doing a clean install (I'm guessing the latter from your previous messages) and whether or not you had Dread Lords installed.

hum, the key do exists (with correct values).
The only anti-shit protection I have is AVG-Free. I reinstalled Script 5.6 just in case. I suppose I need to reinstall the game to see if that was the prob.

The game works (at least to the options, haven't gone further). I did a clean install (never tried DA beta). I had DL installed for some time. The only thing that changed for DL is that I updated Tutorials, Movies and version moment before d/l DA.

Let me know when I can reinstall it (just in case you want some more information with my weird installation result )

Oh by the way, DA does not appear in the "Add or Remove Programs" list of WinXP.

EDIT: If I use the DL welcome screen and I hit "Switch Chapter", the DA welcome screen is working fine. I can start the game from there.

I too was caught by surprise. Here I was considering reducing the frequency that I read these forums.

A quick heads up to devs!

I have just installed DA, but when I launch the game from file "DALaunch.exe" I get the launcher screen with only option to Install the game even if the game is installed and ok in stardock central.

When I run the "GC2DarkAvatar.exe" file the game boots up normally. A small thing, but can cause confusion to some.
