CAN YOU TELL ME WHY YOU ARE USING ALL CAPITOL LETTERS AND IMPROPER PUNCUATION.

LOL another caps lock police trying to give out those tickets, how much are those tickets again. As for the actual purpose of this post i would like to say that if starstock made a map editor like starcrafts map editor i would be in heaven, maybe play my star trek mod more.

I found one map editor, but it doesnt want to play nice with .net 2.0

So, if anyone has any links to player made ones, I appreciate it.

Hmm... they're looking for ideas for the next update, let's all go to that post and say MAP EDITOR! And we also have say that the player made ones maybe good but there still isn't one that works for DA and as far as I can tell nobody is working on one. A favorite responce when asked why there is no editor is that fans can make a better one then they can.

The people that make them have their own life that might not let them spend time on things such as that.

I haven't had time to play the game, let alone work on the map editor. It shouldn't be too hard for anyone to do. Just editing some XML files. I still plan on working on it as soon as work slows down.

Hi @ all,
I have written a program, which I called GC2IDE(Integrated Development Environment) which at the moment contains a Scenario-/CampaignEditor. However, I plan to release the Mapeditor part within hopefully the next days.
It is available here.
Further it is planned to integrate a modsupport(Tech/Improvements-editor) addressing users not familiar with xml, so user will have a "all in one" tool. Due to being a one man team, it'll take some time to finish the whole project.
Anubis200 suggested earlier, that it wouldn't be a big deal on coding a mapeditor, I strongly disagree with that--time gets "eaten up" very quickly on that.

@Anubis200
If you have got that much spare time and the knowlegde to write the whole map parser, drawing engine etc... say within 2-3 days, then feel free to contact me on I-Mod-Productions

I didn't want to insult you either, I just wanted you to think about your first posts, since developing software is not as linear as you might expect. Sometimes you encounter bugs/difficulties you have to sort out, taking a huge amount of time you didn't expect to spent on.
There is much more to consider than a nice look and feel GUI.
However I agree with you, that an official one would be nice though. On the other hand, I rather like beeing fed with constant content updates on the game, and I think it's the right way Stardock is going. They've got a very strong and dedicated community(maybe the best I've seen so far), that's the point where I and many others step in. That concept seems to be going quite well That might be the answer to you initial question, they could have done it at the cost of updates, my guess.

Thx you for your reply i now get what you are saying. I agree this is the best community iv seen for a game. I had a look at you work i like it. When will the full program be out.

Well, since I've got a life as well, I was planning to release the tool with a first version of the mapeditor by this weekend. Unfortunately I found two nasty bugs , so the next version won't make till probably mid of next week.
Concernig the whole project, a Tech-/PlanetaryImprovementeditor(-generator)--generally I want to cover all xml related stuff-- is planned as well. This will take time, I don't have a real timetable for the whole project--it is too much dependent on my spare time.
My policy is to get out at least stable releases, for the sake of my and your nerves
