Why can't I make an alliance?

So, I was hoping to make an alliance victory in my last game, but I can't seem to figure out how to actually make an alliance with another race. Shouldn't be under treaties in the diplomacy screen? I had already researched alliances, and so had the other civilizations. What am I doing wrong?

Your relations need to be "close" with the other race for the option to make an alliance.

it ain't easy, either. you'll need to put a lot of effort into developing your trade, research as much diplomacy as you can, keep your influence from going overboard, and having a buff military doesn't hurt either.

it's generally easier to pick a few allies to forge your alliance, and then take out everyone else.

May I make a suggestion to you that will speed up your ability to get answers to your questions? At the top of the page there is a search field. Type in a keyword, in this case 'alliance', and it will bring up posts with that word in the title. Read through them, and you will likely find an answer to your question, without having to wait for a reply in the forum. Try it. There have been a number of posts on this subject recently, and in the replies to them you will find more detailed answers than on this particular thread. If the same basic question is asked repeatedly in a relatively short period of time, interest in answering it will wane, and you will get curt answers if at all. Search first, and then if you still can't find an answer, post, and I am sure that you will find someone to help.
