Dark Avatar - localization

Hello

I have a question: Is there a localization and distribution in Europe? Or is Dark Avatar only in english?

greetings, Becks

To my knowledge we've not yet settled distribution plans for Europe. Until/if that happens, you would need to buy it direct or import it, and in both cases it would be the English version. I'll see if I can get Yarlen for a more authoritative answer tomorrow.

Only english???

I have the german CD-version of GalCivII at home. What now?? Can I use the english addon with the german fullgame? And if I can do so, will there a mix of german and english text in the game after the addon?

No announcements yet for European sales of GalCiv II: Gold Edition.  This is something we're currently looking into.  If it happens, the game will be localized for several languages (except the FMV).

Because playing with a language mix is very strange.

Hi again

I heard that "Take 2" would localize Galactic Civilizations II Gold in europe. Is it true or is it a rumor.
Hihi, I know that I ask the same questions every week but it is really hard to read all comments and reviews about Dark Avatar without playing it.

Greetings from europe

That would be a rumor which is also untrue.

Hello, another german fan of GalCiv2 here ... you say that you're looking for a distribution-partner for GalCiv2-Gold - what about Dark Avatar as Stand-Alone Expansion? I don't need Galactic Civilizations 2 a second time .

Or will there be a downloadable localized version when you find someone who will distribute it here?

We don't have any plans to sell Dark Avatar standalone at retail. I'm not sure on us offering the localized versions via Stardock Central, but if we did it for GalCiv II, we probably will for DA as well.

I have problems to purchase Dark Avatar, in some reason my credit card does not work, because i have scandinavian lettering on my name and address.... If i replace them with "a" the data is not correct with that securething, which check my cardnumber and name... damnt... Any suggestions how i can purchase this? Winter is so cold here Finland, that i want something to play

I think there will be no DarkAvatar localization in Europe or? :-/

This will depend on when we sign a European publisher.

I hope there are enough European publishers, who want to localize Dark Avatar. Perhaps, you have some new information about this for your European fans?

Not much to report. We're working on it, but it's been taking quite a bit longer than anticipated.

Will a localized version of Dark Avatar in Germany appear?
Or is there only a english version for the next months?

Hello there,

it´s been quite a while for me to have a look into this nice board.

Well, here is another gamer who is interested in obtaining the add-on. I bought the "collector´s edition" in Germany (beautiful country, by the way ).

I´m just curious whether it really works, "patching" DA over GC2 and everything´s in english language in my case. In this respect I´d like to have some confirmation from the official staff. Reading and writing English is no problem for me, but speaking... okay ask another day... ^_^ so I would accept the english DA version.

However, it would be smart to stay with my mother language... maybe there is some news in this concern would be great news !

Thank you very much in advance for your reply !

Kind regards,
Knight (the Galactic One)

I don't believe that DA shares any of the text files with DL, only graphic assets and such, so if you buy the download version of DA and install it with German DL, DA itself should still be all-English.

Just to be absolutely sure that everything would be in English, you could also change a registry key and reinstall the original game via SDC to get it in English first (if you're comfortable with regedit), but that shouldn't be strictly necessary.

Unfortunately we still don't have anything announce concerning European localization and retail sales (still working on it, though, so don't think we gave up! ).

Hi Kryo,

thank you for the absolute quick answer, wow !

Well, honestly I doubt that DA won´t share any text file with DL. At least I made this experience with some other games in the past. And it was too weird to enjoy playing, I can tell you ! But since you are the pro, so I trust your word. You can still check with Brad to see if it´s really the case and then reconfirm.

Editing the registry... well I will try my utmost to avoid that (I don´t feel too comfortable with that)

Concerning your efforts in europe:
I´m sure you are on the right way, keep on doing so !

However, well If may say, the more important thing is the localazation, so one can download the add-on and order the extra CD/DVD for a little cash.

I would also be pleased of getting a localized german version. Don't need a retail version, downloading it is ok.
So go on, hire some translators and offer it for downloading
Hurry up. In germany we have the saying: It is prickling in my fingers
