Galactic Civilizations II: Dark Avatar HAS GONE GOLD!

Release Day: February 14!

https://www.galciv2.com/Purchase.aspx

We are pleased to announce that Galactic Civilizations II: Dark Avatar has gone gold!

It's been a long journey but we think players will be pleased with the results.  The expansion pack will be released on February 14th. You can pre-order it here either as a download or have a CD sent to you (and download it while you're waiting).

We'd like to thank all the people who helped beta test the game. You helped us find bugs, balance the game, add new features, and just make the entire project worthwhile for us. Thank you so much!

If you have any questions, ask them here and we'll do our best to answer.

Just a question.

What about those of us who won the Character Creation contest a while back. I'm assuming at this point that our copy will be mailed out with the rest of the pre-orders, or will they be handled differently somehow? I can't really download anything since I never actually pre-ordered. I feel bad bringing it up, but I'm curious as to how they are being handled.

I was a late adopter of this game, and it's already about to get even better than it already was. Awesome. I'll wait until the day of release to download it though, so that I can partake of the joy that is slow downloads due to excessive bandwidth use (sarcasm) lol. I would preorder but this way me and my special someone can enjoy it the same day (she's getting the retail Gold Edition.) I would like to thank Stardock for continuing to support and improve upon an already excellent product.

Going gold means that the code has been finalized (version 1.0).

Thanks, Feud. I did not know that. Still, I have little doubt that DA will soon reach that particular sales plateau.

I think I'm just gonna enjoy my last few days left of the beta while the Super Hive factories are still free.

Can I get SOME answer here on how big the download will be? Pretty please with sugar and live hornets and all the rest of the crap on top?

The build I have now is about 250MB in its entirety. That's installed, so the download may be smaller with compression, I can't really say exactly though.

I pre-ordered with tokens a couple of months ago. But there was no option from what I recall to oder the hardcopy with the tokens. What do I do to guarantee I get the hardcopy I desire? I had leftover tokens at the time and what have gladly used them to pay for the added hardciopy expense. It was not an option to my dismay.

I'm not quite sure how big it is exactly. I think it's around 300MB.

Okay, cool.

With my dialup connection, I guess it's the CD version for me, then. Heh, the disk would probably GET to my house by the time my connection finished that!

Is the expansion going to be in-stores as well? If not, when will the Bundle pack of DL and DA come out?
The expansion is not going to be in stores, just the bundle pack.

However, if you buy the full pack and already have the original too then you can get a rebate.

I don't suppose anyone would care to comment on how early the pre-orderers will be able to download the final version eh? Ballpark figure? A day or two early? Next week maybe? Just curious... I'm set to release my High Resolution Graphics Mod alongside DA, but it would be nice to have DA a day or so before the 14th, so i can make sure no changes will effect my mod .

Brad,

Will you in the future be upgrading some of the graphics in GalCiv2 Dl & DA to take advantage of the DirectX10 features in Vista? I was reading info on Vista at the different game sites and CNet and was curious if you had any plans or if you are happy with where you are with GalCiv2 and include any new graphic features in GalCiv3 or some other incarnation?

Thanks in Advance

If Stardock did release such an update, I won't use it since I won't get Vista. I don't see a need to make use of DX10 in this game, anyway.

Hey, I have a quick question abou the install.

I know from experience that "upgrades" tend to be more difficult than clean installs.

Would you all recommend simply "patching" (for lack of a better word) DA onto our Galciv2 install, or would it be more benificial for us to remoive our install, and download/install a New copy of GalCiv2-DA (ie install from scratch?)

Thanks!
