Pre-Ordered Yet Cant Download Beta

Sorry mate, the beta is over..ended like two weeks ago. The devs are working overtime for last minute tweaks and fixes that were brought up by the beta. The final release date for Dark Avatar is Feburary 14th i believe. (Someone correct me if im wrong here.) And it sounds like what youve got is a pre-order to that final release..not the beta.

On Stardock it clearly lists the Beta as being available for download and theres an option to purchase it.

Considering I just preordered because the Beta is listed as a download, I'm not pleased.
Really, really, quite furious.

It was announced a week+ ago that the beta was closing to all new purchasers. I'm not entirely sure why it still shows up as an option in SDC for you. However, as you pre-ordered too late, you will not have beta access. I believe this has always been Stardock's policy, protecting them from a flood of bug submissions from new beta users in the critical phase just before release.

Hm, sorry i didnt mean to steam you..i honestly dont know what happened there, thats just what i thought was going on. Best to get an official answer from Kyro(site moderator) or Stardock directly, im sure theyll refund you that money if you want?

I am sorry, but the beta was closed three weeks ago. While SDC may show the latest build on the server, you cannot access it without a beta key and those are no longer being supplied.

You will not have been permanently charged (and won't be until something is available for you to download, though there may be a temporary hold for the amount on your card). So if at this point you wish to cancel your preorder, you can contact [email protected] and do so.

It is confusing thought having the beta show for DL on Stardock!

I am happy to hear of the definite release date...but a question concerning it.


Was there consideration for a later/earlier date to be used for the release? Though it may be rare (as individual games can take days to play), some may have their time on the 14th occupied by their girlfriend/boyfriend/spouse.


If this was intentional, could the motivations behind using that date of release be explained? If it was not intentional, I hope that Stardock isn't disappointed by a possible lull in downloads on the 14th.


I only bring this up because I am JUST getting into a relationship and may be occupied enough to not download DA. That and I have classes until 8:20...makes me very sad

That was the 'second' release date. The original was like November or early December. They (and the community) decided on a later date for more content and an open beta.

As to your point, that shouldn't be much of a problem. If anything, that will help the load on their servers as some people (me included) are going to be otherwise occupied for most of the day. However, it isn't too difficult to just start the download. It also doesn't mean much if some cannot get it until the next day or two.

I think that it's high time you re-examined your priorities. Or, even better, it's high time your boyfriend/girlfriend/both/spouse re-examined thier priorities. If you both like the game, then it can be a fun date night activity!

That would be amazing, truly, but I have school and when I get out she wouldn't be able to come over...and I can't go over to her house either...danged classes getting in my way...-_-
