Enemy tecnology Tree

Enemy tecnology Tree

In Galciv2 (and DA), you can get all of the enemy technology information. You can see what techs they have. But they have a huge confusing list to list the techs. Will there be any tech tree to show what techs they have? That would be a big help to my spying and to keep tabs on the enemy's plans.

No, you can't see the emeny's techs in tree form, just on the diplomacy screen as it has been.

Yeah its kind of pity, that huge list doesn't help me much... It would be nice to be able to see a condensed version of the tech tree. Usually I just look at what I have tech wise and they don't or vice versa. Its not really an absolute system more llike who's farther the who.

Really, if the stats list the tech, list them next together their fellow techs. EX: manufacturing center is at the top whilst the industrial secotr is somewhere at the bottom. It seems to have no form what so ever.

I'd actually put a reorganized enemy tech tree pretty high on the improvements I'd like to see in a DA update. Ideally it would be a collapsible/expandable tree that, in its collapsed form, displayed the highest level tech a civ had in each branch. Individual techs would be color-coded to indicate whether the player also had them.

I would of never thought of that...

That is a good idea FortyTwo, it can be kinda hard to read in the runon form it's currently in.

I sure wish the Devs would implement that. I would also like to have a notice screen when AI trades tech with other AI.

Jub, why do you think you should know when AIs trade with each other? Maybe if your espionage is high enough, then I would support what you're saying. But without the requisite espionage level, you shouldn't know.

Pretty sure it's alphabetical, but yeah, it would be nice if it was grouped by tech type and went from either lowest to highest or vice versa. It's a pain to go back and forth looking up the tech tree and figureing out which of some of the techs come first and what not (photon and photonic tend to get mixed up for me and some others also).

I think this is a brilliant idea. Would be a nice change.

What else you could do is bring up the enemy tech tree(if they had one) is pick a tech you want to steal. The time it would take depends how advanced it is and how many spies you task to it.

How about just add empire symbols above techs in the current tech tree that represent that tech being possessed by that empire.

Then you could use the existing tech tree, with a small addition, and still be able to see exactly how you compare to every empire all at once.

Not really feasible with the 'condensed' tech lines--there wouldn't be room to fit them.

Perhaps by clicking on the desired tech you could see who has it and then you'd start your negotiations for it by clicking a short-cut to the diplomacy screen.

hey, but one problem remains, mentionned in the original post !
Without espionage, you know the techs researched by the opponents.

Something like this would be really welcome, never thought about this one myself.

I hope UI got all the loving it needs in final or gets in updates to come. GC2 UI sure had issues, but I could live with them. Now with all the added stuff coming with DA, those UI quirks are starting to catch my eye even more.

I love a game with alots of options but not too informative/illogical UI can do alot to hinder that enthusiasm. Like some said, diplomacy screen has been quite bad UI wise from the beginning. The way techs are presented in it and the inability to give fleets to AI players for one is blood boiling.

Bit more about the diplomacy screen, Iam sorry in advance. Perhaps somekinda points system could be added. Clearly AI somehow values what kinda deal its going to make. But its totally frustrating when you you have to quess what the AI wants. In example you want a Industrial Sector tech from the AI, you throw 20 techs at him and when you add one more tech, the deal comes acceptable!! Now how more confusing can it get?

Now if I only knew how much weight/points each of my techs would be. In alternative reality, I choose industrial sectors from AI. Ok thats 210 points. My Laser IV is 50 points and terraforming tech say 200 points. Now I give them and its a done deal, instead at the moment I have to guess how important my techs are Sorry to went, but this has been building up since the GC2 was released

If anything, I'd love to see just the most advanced techs currently researched. If the text could be color coded to match branches that would be helpful too (diplomacy = yellow, ship defenses = purple, ship weapons = red, etc). Just something to help in understanding the jumble of techs that each race is working on would be a nice feature.
