Creating your own ships

Hello!

I just bought the game and played 3-4 games now. (haa! awesome game )
So don't laugh or I'll come over and slap you silly.
anyways..

I tried to build a better constructor, but it only lets me add 1 construction thingie (I dont remember what the real name is)

I researched hulls and that didnt help, even huge ships. The damn construction thing disappears from the menu at one time. Did I miss something here or is it even possible? Do I need to research something else?

You can only add one construction module to your ships. However, I would recommend downloading Kyros Hull Mod, it'll give you a huge range of dummy modules and fake hulls, so you can build even better ships...which is always good! Have fun with the game!

When it comes to trade and construction moduales, you only need one. The ship disapears once the moduale is used, so putting multiple ones on would serve no purpose aside from filling up space.

However, if you want them on for eye candy, then Darth Alaneus is right, go with Kryo's hull mod.

Ok, thanks.

One other thing I didnt understand;

I read on the forum that its better to build hulls and upgrade them than design and build them. But when I tried to upgrade, it didnt do anything. I tried to design a ship and then upgrade to that designed model, but it just costed more than before. Obviously I misunderstood a key part of the process.

EDIT: Nevermind, I figured it out already.

I've searched around for threads on the topic of tweaks & changes to the ship design screen. Specifically, more light uniformly distributed to better see the ship and possibly a full-screen design/view window. I am rather surprised there are no threads on the topic, so I am wondering if changes have already been discussed and ruled out. Anyone able to educate me?

Aye, I agree.
One thing I'd like to see are sets of predefined ships that are "bare" and just need some tweaking by the user.
Or a way to save designs and reuse them for future design, this would reduce the time I spend designing ships. Which I love btw, I just don't have a lot of free time
