One of the things that has helped make space strategy games really shine in the long term is the community of modders.

Whether it be Master of Orion 3 which benefited greatly from third party moders to the Space Empires series to of course Galactic Civilizations II, modders are a very important part of the community.

One of the top modders for Galactic Civilizations II who helped us on Dark Avatar too, Stefan, has gotten together with other like minded folks and set up a new site called i-mod-productions. It's a site where people who like to mod games can get together and discuss modding.

You can see a link to some of the things they've done below.

I also run a site about modding TBSs, TBS Modder. It contains many mods such as the Human Factions, HHGTTG and Star Wars mods, has an online RTS (in beta) and in the future, possibly, a metaverse for mods.

Anyway, it's nice to see others doing the same.

Hi Brad! thank you for the announcement, our Team feel very honored!

Just a little additional information about I-Mod Productions:

"Interstellar Modding Productions", or short "I-Mod Productions" will be more than a Community were Modding will be discussed, it will produce Mods and support Mod-Teams on their way.

Founded by 3 People who share one spirit:

Stefan Gersdorf (I-Mod Director)
Sven Bischoff (I-Mod Director)
Christian Giertz (I-Mod Administrator)

the short form "I-Mod" shall represent the player's "will to modify" games.
Productions means, that this project will be like a "Yard for Mods".

Talented people who dreamed of making a Mod but failed cause of organisation or ressources, will be given the chance to build up a team on our Site.

We want to prevent that Mod Teams break up or riding low.

So if someone planned or have a dream of a Mod, he/she can contact us and we'll see what we can do.

This is what "I-Mod Productions" stands for =o)

Thanks,

Stefan Gersdorf (I-Mod Director)

Well, if you join, post and help spread the word, that would be much appreciated
The ST Mod forum is currently sitting empty and unloved

I've poked my nose into Civfanatics Forums a time or two to hopefully stir up interest.

Well - Lets Not Forget I-Mods isn't the only one out there, infact, before this post came about.

TBS MODDERS

TBS Modder had made its announcement that it was trying to do this very thing.

Please, while it may not be as pretty, it has ample amounts of potential and already some great members.

why do you think we are making the same? we don't make the same, we produce and support mods and not only Turn based strategy games, so don't think anyone steals the others idea or play the other out, renfl? , we don't see any rivalry, It's too good sites with good minds. Ps, there are many sites similar, i.e. moddb.com, ...
all they were there before us...

renfl, its a pity that you never changed...

wow! nice review! now everyone can see it! good for you Stefan!

and yes, Stefan is right, this review if for the I-Mod website, not the TBS modder, although I like the TBS modder it's a great site and I post there, you can't advertise the TBS here, when the real advert is for the I-Mod. that's not fair.

so as a comment for the actual topic, which you guys are way beyond, I say that Stefan made a lovely website. good job!

Stefan,

You haven't changed much either, is it a coincidence that the Three Modders....excuse me... Three of the TOP modders of the Gal Civ 2 (and we have a mod to prove it)... are from the team that originally failed under your leadership and now those same three are being shunned by I-Mods Production...

You are right Master U - We are way off topic, and no matter how disrespected I may feel from SD or anyone else, I want to avoid this whole cry baby fest....So, I will officially stop posting here about this incident, about I-Mods, about SD and the preception of favoritism that seems to be taking place. I know there are great people at Stardock and that they have put out a great game...

Stefan, you may have the last word, and I won't highjack your post anymore. Good day. I am sorry for anyone who actually read this garbage of fight.

I believe this issue has been sufficiently resolved in private. Please, let's leave it at that.

Renfl,... I'm too old for this stuff, you never failed in the old startrek mod Team, we reached much... but thats past, I don't continue this "fight", you started a new Team cause you wanted other directions or whatever.

I don't want that what happened in the past happen again, trust needs time, and I have no trust in you, this should be understandable for all people, that I don't trust in someone, who destroy other ones dream and make it his own, thats sad, but you was unable to solve this problem with me on diplomatic ways. That's the fact, sorry for the other ones, i really liked han891, Puma, Prometheus, deathbychi, Cyong...
nice guys I trusted in.

sorry Kryo for the last word, it's a sad issue.

I apologize myself for involving Stardock in our private Issue.

Stefan

I'm very happy to say, that the problems are solved, and I will give my best for the big "Uniting" in the future...
