Game won't play

I have had galactic civilizations a day and have had to install it twice because it just doesn't want to play. Both installs went perfectly smoothly without a problem but when i went to play the game part of my screen went black as if to run but then nothing else happens. I left it for about half an hour with no result. I then closed it said here was an error with the game and had to close.

I have no idea what could be the problem. My computer was top of the range a year ago but i don't know if its been so far outdated by now.

Any help would be much appreciated.

If your video drivers are over a year old, you need to update them. This is the most frequent cause of this problem.

If your computer was top of the range a year ago, it should be able to run the game easily once the video drivers are updated. If that doesn't work, post the debug.err text file (found in the directory where the game program files are located). This may give a clue as to what the problem is and help others help you.

Please go to C:\Program Files\Stardock\Totalgaming\GalCiv2 (or wherever you installed the game at), open the debug.err file you find there in notepad, and copy/paste the contents into a post here. This will give us some technical information that can help troubleshoot your problem.
