Grammatical/spelling errors

Is there a standard operating procedure for reporting grammatical errors, and spelling errors, that I might find while reading the games copious (yet enjoyable) written material? If so, please post it in response to this post...

I am not volunteering as editor here, but so far (I just bought the game) I have seen some doosies and, quite honestly, they drive me bonkers...

O_o are you sure? I haven't noticed anything... maybe you need to perform an update?

Have you gotten the latest patch as well? I believe a number of errors were fixed as the devs came across them while making other changes in the patches.

I would just list them here, in the format 'Description for tech X has "widget" spelled with a "y"' or something.

Speaking of which, shouldn't it be spelled "Fungusamongus?" Like in the old joke about there being a fungus among us?

There is a speed tech (can't remember which one) that has a confusing description. It states something to the effect of: 'before we couldn't travel to destinations that were lightyears away, but now we can travel millions of miles away!' It's confusing because one light year is approximately 6 trillion miles. Does anyone know which tech I'm talking about? But no biggie, it's just a game after all.

Part of that is supposed to be humor.

As you may have noticed over the months, humor is very subjective around here... I don't think many people at this forum have that all critical "funny bone". And don't go getting mad at me for saying it, because it's true.

I don't know if it's that, or if it's really that people just sometimes take the game a little too seriously and forget to have fun with it.

Posting in this forum is similar in that way. I consider it my Quixotic duty to try to bring some humor to any forum in which I post, especially the few like this one that I visit regularly. The primary function of my sense of humor is to make my own life more bearable, but I occasionally manage to drag a chuckle out of others here.

Humor *is* very subjective and depends a lot on perceived intent. However, there's a big difference between humor in the game and humor in the forums. Humor in the game could by no stretch of the imagination be directed at you personally.

Comments, humorous or otherwise, are definitely colored by previous relationship. If two folks have basically gotten along a comment that could potentially be perceived as derogatory is more likely to be assumed to be good natured humor. Conversely, if the relationship has been one of animosity, then even something intended as good natured humor may be taken as derogatory.

This is only human nature and adding a smiley face at the end doesn't fix the problem. The only thing that can fix the problem is for both parties to take extreme care not to give even the hint of offense in the future. However, that requires that the parties involved are willing to put forth the effort to repair the relationship. If one or the other couldn't be bothered to make the effort there's not much that can be done.

Basic Factory gives this "helpful" bit of information:

"The basic factory increase this colony's the social + military production on this planet by up to 8 more industrial units. Depending on what percentage of your manufacturing capacity you are using and what percentage of it is directed towards social and military, this factory's capacity will be used."

Am I taking crazy pills or does this make very little sense and also seem to be missing some comas, maybe?

Quixotic... Good word! I had to look it up!

Now I have to rethink changing my name!

"This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill - the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill - you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes."

I don't know how many comas you've missed lately, but the use of commas you question in your dialogue quote appears correct to me.
