Can someone tell me about the modding system please....

Sorry, but can someone run through the modding of a simple logo or a portrait onto the game because it doesnt work for me, I have managed to put a portrait of zoidberg and a Christian cross logo, but I want to 'Trekanise' my Galciv2, but Ive tried klingon logos, the star fleet logos, the 'Trek Profiles' I downloaded of here....

I think it could have something to do with the zipping and unzipping but I'm not sure.

Any help would be greatly thanked for.

I've started making custom logos and portraits with Paint Shop Pro, and it gets rather addictive after a while. Get yourself some specialty fonts (if you don't already have them) like Klingon alphabet, Romulan, etc., and you'll get some nice abstract symbols you can use for your custom race.

Here's a site I just now found that has fonts from Star Trek, Babylon 5, and various sci-fi films. I've tried a few, and they look ok, but not all of them have a full alphabet.

Do you leave the files zipped because it always doesnt work when they are for other downloads

Paint Shop Pro is currently owned by Corel, and you can order it from their website. You also may find it at Best Buy, Fry's, etc., and sometimes earlier versions (I have version 7) can be found in software bundles.

I haven't dl'd any of the mods from here yet, so can't give you advice there.

What exactly 'doesn't work' about it? If you mean mods you've downloaded, those need to be unzipped (though *where* you unzip them can vary from mod to mod).

So where do I unzip say the Klingon_emblem_101 or the starfleet.....because Ive unzipped them and it still doesnt work...

If it's just a logo, put it in My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2\Logos, or in the Portraits folder in the same location if it's a portrait.

Oh ok....I think Ive tried that but it doesnt work......Ive got another three logos on now....I think somethings work and somethings dont....thnaks for everyones help.

Just in case you do not know...

You must start a new game for the changes to take effect. They will not show in a current game.
