A graphical comparison

I couldn't believe the Gamespot preview missed the graphical enhancements so completely, as to say there wasn't any in DA.

Here's an Econ. Base in GCII

Now for comparison, here is one from DA.

As far as I can tell my graphics are set the same for both games. The bases are both Yor with different color schemes, but it's pretty clear.Maybe the reviewer needs glasses.. heh
All the non DA beta people can see some of what there missing too.

From a non DA beta person, the mesh looks the same to me, but the textures are completely different, and less cartoony. Maybe he was expecting new meshes or something. Or maybe he just hadn't played regular GC2 recently and didn't do a side by side comparison before making the statement. And maybe his editor didn't send it back to him.

That is just one example. There is many enhancements to the graphics. It's pretty cool to zoom in and see 8-10 ships orbiting a planet, all in scale with each other. The planets themselves look nicer also. It's always been fun to zoom in to look at all the detail in things, now there's even more detail to look at  .
Oh yea the asteroids look great too. I just thought the dev team did a great job enhancing the graphics for DA, and to get it stated that the graphics were the same, was kind of lame. Great job Stardock! We appreciate the effort.

Wait a minute, I didn't notice this before, but is that little logo on the side of the station the empire logo of the player? Thats a nice touch... can we do that with ships too?
