In my games, whenever I wanted to replace one building with another, I would demolish the existing building and build a new one.
Today I noticed that you can simply upgrade the old building to the new one by laying the desired new building on the old one's tile. Furthermore, the time required to upgrade is less than the time required to demolish and rebuild!
I never knew you could do this and could find no forum reference to this capability.
