Can you post DA games to the Metaverse?

Excuse my ignorance, as I haven't manage to wrangle the time to complete a full DA game yet, but can you post DA games to the metaverse?

No. I've seen Stardock say it can't be done yet, but can't find any of the appropriate threads. They may be waiting until DA actually goes to retail.
I would think they would allow it sometime before final release but I'm sure they want some reasonable level of balancing in place first.

You could imagine if someone at this early stage of the beta, found a mega scoring exploit and kept it to themselves for a while to pad their ranking.
I think this question wasn't rather well thought out, considering that DA is still a BETA!!!!!!!!!

Beta's have been posted in previous builds. I think kryo test-posted a DA alpha a while back.

DethAdder, if someone rockets up the scoreboard, unfunf figured out the exact scoring mechanisms waaaaaaaaaaay back before leaving the forums due to jealous jackasses. Stardock know if someone is exploiting, because they can tell whether or not the score is possible.

No, I tried. It failed, as I believe it still will now.

I remember when I first started coming here there was remnents of a controversy involving unfunf. I was hazy on the details, but I remember people complaining about it. If he was working within the mechanincs of the game, was it really an exploit? I've seen Stardock strike down posted games after the fact, so I know more info than just a score is uploaded.
He wasn't exploiting, he was expirimenting while emailing Cari his findings on a daily basis, and keeping us up-to-date in the IRC. He's the reason that Stardock can catch exploiters, because he figured out ways to completely obliterate the AI and maximise the score.

More info is uploaded, but cheats weren't involved. He simply figured out the EXACT scoring mechanism, and ways to stop the AI working effectively. I still have his findings on my computer somewhere.

Shame he was flamed off the forums really, good member of the community

I could question whether your life is terribly well thought out Evil Stormbringer, but then that would be being unnecessarily petty towards a complete stranger, kind of like your post there mate...

(Thanks to the rest of you for your replies)

Oh and bringer boy if u wanted some rationale (you do know what that word means don't u?), I had posted beta versions of Gal Civ 2 to the 'verse in the past and thus was just asking.

I sense you are a bit miffed at my reply, which I didn't think was overly hostile towards you, as most of mine can be. So, you have an issue with that? Okay.

Oh and bringer boy if u wanted some rationale (you do know what that word means don't u?), I had posted beta versions of Gal Civ 2 to the 'verse in the past and thus was just asking.

Then here you wish to insult my intelligence, at least that is what I am reading here... uhhh, nice try. I don't really even know why I am wasting time responding to this but I guess I think it's funny enough to warrant a reply.
As far as my life being "thought out", what exactly does that have to do with your question or my reply?
Again, ask a stupid question... get treated like the idiot that you are.
Oh, and I do believe my answer to your question was correct so...
After thinking about this, you waited long enough to reply, and then saved your choice acknowledgements for me. I think you're purposely trying to start trouble and if so, you'd better find someone else to play with. I don't waste my time with intellectually lacking miscreants.

LOL, I rest my case (re: Petty). But I forgot that you THE person always in a position of being able to pass judgement on any post you come across (ploease forgive me oh great bringer of the storm for my insolence).

Mate perhaps you need to review polite forum internet etiquette, and you must admit, your initial post really didn't add anything to the thread, nor did it really help my query out other than dealing with it in a really negative and petty way.

Didn't mean to get your hackles up, was just making a point, but it would seem that your emotianal capacity to handle some criticism is quite underdeveloped and juevenile, but I guess I shouldn't have been suprised considering your obvious congenital disposition towards complete cognitive dysfunction. Case in hand, your quoted attempts at dissembling my very succinct arguments at proving your inane banality - ergo, that fact that you weren't correct about my intitial post (as backed up by Macrothonas post below your intitial post) re: posting beta to the metaverse (which is the question in hand) and you have also defeated your original argument re: 'intelligence' as you seem to have been unable to digest the simple metaphor made re: 'thinking things out', which was trying to illustrate a very simple point of - being polite here on the forums and thinking before you speak (or type as it were) or at least posting stuff that is contributary and not negative.

Game, set, match.

So where was my answer wrong? What Marcathonas said was "he believed", and Kryo answered in kind. Get your facts straight, my answer was correct. Now onto the juvenile part:
juevenile,

suprised

that fact that you weren't correct about my intitial post

Smack down on that one, yet again.
Macrothonas

If you're going to use someone's name, get it right.
I think this question wasn't rather well thought out, considering that DA is still a BETA!!!!!!!!!

And you were offended how? Rather timid coming from me, as the rest of the forum could attest to.

Game, set, match.

It's easy to think you've won something... especially when your opponent isn't even around... loser. Seriously though, you seem to take great amusement in continuing on with your pointless banter over something that you were wrong about. Furthermore, it is you who must be the emotional cripple if my reply had any wording whatsoever that actually made you feel like "less of a man", which you are now that I have read your replies.
Again, my answer was correct. Live it, love it, and now go choke on it as I am done wasting my time with you.
Cheers "mate"!  Oh, and piss TF off!!!!  You figure it out.

LOL do u really comprehend how lame you now appear?

Manhood. Dude I highly doubt you have children, and if you do, this earth is a lesser place for it. I on the other hand have my manhood well and truly proven, as I have get (get of Gee!?). Again you completely defeat your own argument re: emotional immaturation with your banal and impotent post.

Now get your unranked a$$ outta here! (you do PLAY gal civ 2 don't you!?)

HAH!!!! That one is a classic! You really got me on that one, I mean, ooooooooh! As I can see at this moment, my only fault is STUPIDITY... stupidity for taking the time to read and respond. But it is a diversion from work, no matter how petty. However this devolves, so be it. I do have to admit thagee, it is no fun when we can't even seem to be on the forum at the same time.

Now get your unranked a$$ outta here! (you do PLAY gal civ 2 don't you!?)

Now I have never advocated multiplayer for this game, or any other for that matter, but in this case... I WOULD LOVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO KICK YOUR ASS in this game. Metaverse, schmetaverse. When, and more importantly if, high speed internet comes through my area, things will be different with regards to online access. Playing from work is not an option, sadly enough.
Nevertheless, I don't need to prove myself with regards to my GC2 prowess, but I will allow myself to be entertained by you for a bit longer... NOW ON WITH THE SHOW!

Do settle down, you two. No need to make a contest of it.
Actually I have a question that's quasi-related to the initial post. Can I post a metaverse game using the v1.40x.062 version (I think that's what it is now) that underlies DA.

Also, do you think it's of worth to the developers to play a complete game with this version or if I really want to play a v1.4 game before moving on to DA should I just use the v1.40x.053 version?

Yes, that should work fine.

Warning heeded Kryo... you know I have too much respect for you to disregard your sentiments.  But you do have to admit he keeps asking for it.

!? Can't help yourself can you?

Stormbringer you DO actually OWN a copy of Gal Civ 2 don't you?

You do know that posting a game to the metaverse would be completely doable with dial-up access? Surely you can afford some dial-up access at home in order to drop some games on the metaverse right? Or do mummy and daddy turn the lights out @ 7pm?

Your lack of internet access @ home (and life in general) makes me feel very sad.

So...stormbringer, managed to get a chance to prove your 'manhood' lately?

Hey look man, I understand if you find comprehension of my posts a little hard, but it's ok, you don't have to feel like a lesser human being as a result, good news there is plenty of space for all of us in the universe.

Kyro - Sorry bro, not meaning to start a flame match here, but you gotta admit, Bringer did spool up like an SR20 engine running 2 Bar of boost...And I don't think my initial question was that lame? Hey at least I search the forums for problems before I post...that's gotta be worth something right?

Ok - Bringer it's time to chill this out.

(P.s. nailing quotes in your post do not constitute rational constructed argument, nor do they automatically illustrate points, but I must admit you are very good at using the quote function)

Sorry, couldn't help myself, ok this time for sure.

Bringer time to chill this out.

I guess you should ask your mom and your wife...
Nailing that quote to your tiny little head.

It's been over a year since I posted, and I only really scan the forums when I have a problem. With DA pending, I've been trying to catch up a bit.

I have to say that the tone and civility of these boards has really taken a nosedive. Moderators, is there any chance of cracking down hard on this? I'd hate to see an otherwise useful forum become a wasteland of childish flamewars. I know that, based on this thread alone, I would have warned and temp banned thagee based on post #9 alone, permabanned both thagee and evil stormbringer based on 12 on. Several other threads on the front page would have had similar outcomes for other members. And no, I don't really care if they are otherwise useful contributors.

Frankly, kids, if you can't keep it civil take it to email.

Whoa! Wait a minute, I would get temp-banned for chastising someone for dropping an unuseful piece of criticism in my thread? So let me get this straight bralex, you'd temp-ban me for criticising (and in a reasonably non-hostile manner might I add) someone who had judged and criticised me, and yet u wouldn't temp-ban Stormbringer for his post @ #4? So bralex it's ok for someone to drop uneccessary or rude criticism about someone's post, but not okay for someone to fire back at such criticism? Talk about double standards.

I don't disagree with perhaps a temp-ban from #12 onwards, but none of what is above would constitute a permaban, other than, perhaps, Bringer's comments about my mum (the correct way you spell it! LOL) and sister, WHICH you might have noticed I haven't bothered replying too (why sink to new depths?).

I don't disagree with your comment re: email, yes this perhaps should have been kept to PM from #11 onwards. But it is a very funny read.

If you must know thagee, I could care less. It was meant to be harmless banter on my part, you obviously didn't think so. I say bury the hatchet and join forces to flame this bralex character, but then that would be CHILDISH on our part, and just plain wrong. After all, he just gave his humble opinion over what he's observed. But regardless, I'm done.
P.S. I am surprised at this thread rejuvenating itself.

#4 was right at the limit, frankly. I only posted after reading a number of threads, this one was just the straw. This isn't even close to the worst one, nor were you two what I considered the worst offenders.

Feel free to ignore my opinion, or flame away if you like. I'm not particularly vested in this board except for occasional troubleshooting. I keep seeing boards becoming wastelands, useful content and dialogue drowned by pointless flamewars. I'm down to a handful that I participate in, and a few more (like this one) that I generally just scan. Don't want to lose another one. Remember the MOO3 boards? Forget the game, just the, hmm, incivility (<-understatement) of the forums.

Cheers,
Scott
