Given I've been hanging around on the forums and IRC for long enough to know exactly why and when that got put up, etc etc, I know the rules.

Try reading it yourself. It says nothing about calling out people making stupid comments, just newbies. I leave them alone unless they hit one of the evil 3.

Jeff, is this really an issue with you that you had to go through all of that to get the dev's attention, just so they could tell you what you should have already known. I said it elsewhere and I will say it again, whether I am right or not, people who police others when they themselves have no authority to do so need to re-evaluate their sad little lives and reflect on just what it was that caused them to be treated in such a "flaming" way. If you can't handle sarcasm, this isn't the place for you. And if you think starting with people who have more time invested in this game, more knowledge on inherent issues/strategies, and just more knowledge than you in general then you'd better go buy one of those "dummies" books. Maybe they make a "learning to pick your fights for dummies" title. So how about that?  

Getting back to the original topic (nudge: Marc, Storm), I think that Galciv 2 probably has a chance to win a few strategy GOTY's and maybe even a PC GOTY, but I would be surprised if a major publication gave Galciv 2 overall game of the year; what with all of the next-gen console hype.

At the very least though, Galciv 2 should get some mentioning in a lot of articles, and that should help draw more attention to the game and to Stardock.

I wouldn't be surprised if Stardock's upcomming fantasy title got a few overall GOTY awards when it gets released though. A new MoM-type game has the possibility to send shockwaves through the industry.

I think GCII should stand up quite well against any of those on that list. It has kept me playing daily longer than any other game I've ever had(Previous long was probably Warcraft II way back when). It should mop up in dedicated TBS categories IMO.
