Old buildings still available after researching new ones...

And the AI uses 'em

I don't know if this feature was announced, but I sure was surprised when I noticed "Newest" "Old" and "All" tabs on my planetary improvement list. So instead of having to start new planets with Enhanced Factories I could still build basic ones and then upgrade. Definitely adds to the micromanagement but also cures the "factory-phobia" that always had me putting off factory upgrade techs until later in the game. Also, as I conquered / influenced other civs' planets I noticed they were using older buildings too. The AI seemed a little hairy about the whole thing, but then again I even had a hard time figuring out what the best balance of old/new was.

Either way KUDOS TO STARDOCK for another asked-for but unexpected feature that is making Dark Avatar pretty much the most comprehensive expansion ever!

Not to mention the new ship jewelry and the blank hulls integrated into the game!

This is wonderful news.

Good eye for the UI, and good news for the micro-folks.

Keep this.

Yep, this is a feature

It is a great feature, especially for the factories. However, I discovered the Super Hiver racial ability, which lets factories be built in 1 turn. That is a cool ability, epsecially once industrial sectors become available.

I think the best usage of this will be in the allowing finer control over what farm buildings you have and thus over your desired pop.

It's also a nice feature to have for starting new colonies or rebuilding conquered planets in the late game. I agree the Super Hiver racial ability makes this less an issue, but I may not *always* want to select the super hiver ability.

I would like to see similiar buttons on ship design screen for components.

i second this motion - would make the ship design screen a whole heck of a lot less cluttered

for that matter, why not automatically take away the ship components that are too big for the remaining points? like if i fill up a ship so it only has 3 in space left, why do i have to wade through 3 pages worth of components just to find that life-support that only costs me 3 to put on? i think it might be nice to add a tab that says "Available" and only lists the components (from all categories) that can fit on the remaining space

Both of these are great ideas.

Now if only we can figure out a way to make the Jewelry section less cluttered

BTW... you've effectively added black hulls... so how about some fake versions of all the ship components?

For the jewellery, I would stick a tick box on each one, which puts it in your favourites. Then stick on a favourites tab which shows all the ones you've ticked. It would help you filter out the ones you use a lot.

tick box

You scary Brits I'm a Florida native--tick box is a scary notion, especially if you've done any warm-weather camping around here.

Language fun aside, the idea seems swell to me. Depending on how I'm pacing my military tech development, I can go through fairly long stretches where one category like armour will not get an upgrade for a long time whilst engines and weapons are climbing.

Is this in the current non-beta version or in a beta version?

This feature is in Dark Avatar (that is what the Beta Reports forum is for).
