I can't quite see the details in your screenshots but all the fleets in a row followed by fleets of transports is a thing of beauty. I assume these *are* fleets and not individual ships. BTW what's the total number of attack ships and transports, and how many troops per transport do you use?

Hey Mumblefratz,

The images should be clickable for a larger image, then clickable again for full size.

This is a stock 1.4x Metaverse game where I acquired a larger than usual military over the course of the game. Just wanted to share the experience.

I'm running 11 transports in each troop carrier fleet. Each transport holds 1000 troops. I'm running 7 huge hulled fighters in each fighter fleet. There are 80 transport fleets and 89 fighter fleets.

Nice to see you back CraigHB. Figured you left us for good after that post ranting about the game changes. Pre-order?

I 2nd that. Good to see you back.

80 * 11 = 880 transports that should be enough to conquer 300 planets. You should try using mini soldiers, you wouldn't use up so many troops.

I have had that many attack fleets, just not so nicely lined up.

I posted something like this already but it hung. I waited 10 minutes before posting again. Something like this happened on an earlier thread and eventually all the posts came through. I wonder if it will happen again.

Yea, I got mad at the frequent radical changes to the game. I figured if they can't get it right after a couple updates, they'll never get it right. I even uninstalled the game from both my computers swearing to never play it again. Went on to play other games, but I missed GC2. The game is just too good, can't stay away from it. Next time I don't like the changes, I'll just keep quiet knowing I'll get over it eventually. So, I'm back, more humble for the experience. Hehe, thanks for noticing

BTW, I use mini-soldiers and tidal disruptors a lot. It doesn't show it in the screen shots, but I have close to 200 planets to conquer from the Drengins. So, what I have gives me a good margin, just in case.

An extra 50% margin is reasonable. Yes, from the screen shot it doesn't look anywhere near 200 planets.

The two best tactics neither cause loss of PQ. When you’re unlikely to win I use tidal disruptors, in the off chance you actually do win you have to rebuild the planet, but you haven't really damaged the planet. Mini-soldiers is my default. I use it virtually every time. It's nice when you're evil and you build the No Mercy wonder that gives you free tactics, but I use it when I'm neutral and I have to pay 500 bc as well.

I do tend to use 2 adv. troop modules per transport for 2000 troops. You don't build as many transports, but you need a bit more pop per planet to fill them. Nothing wrong with 1000 per transport though.

With DA here I may not ever have to play a v1.4 game. DA definitely has dramatic changes but most seem to be positive additions. I'm still finishing up my one and only v1.31 game. The AI has noticeably improved.

Removal of the morale bonus from the stock exchange was a bit disappointing but if you can’t win without it then perhaps you really didn’t deserve to win with it. That’s the way I look at it anyway. I actually will do a v1.4 game just to prove I can win (and earn a big income) without the stock exchange morale bonus.
