the real question is: Will there be enough bandwidth to finish the DA download before next year, lol

And guys, realistically, give them some time. As with anything complex, problems pop up last minute, and their probably still working on one or two things. Brad said it will be up before 12am, and so it will be. But i would expect it to be up this evening, not this afternoon, given they may need some time for last minute issues. Relax, breathe, and hope for bandwidth later .

One that I forgot to ask the Stardock crew... did you guys finally arrive at a file size for the download? I know that it still may vary but there were a few numbers that varied enough to warrant my need to know.

well login to stardock and get the update so you dont waste those few secs or mins depends on connection dling the update for stardock

Mumble, I have a vague impression that the DA discs will ship in February with the 1.0 version and the betas will all be download-only.

I'm also pretty sure I read somewhere around here that DL and DA will cohabit. At least I hope they will b/c I doubt I'll be able to make myself finish my current gigantic game before I get my paws on the DA beta.

I had pre-ordered DA with my old e-mail address and SD support told me that I needed to pre-order DA with my new email address again. They did ofcourse cancel the pre-order with old email. Guess their system is not the most flexible out there.

It's going to come in around 350MB last I heard.

Does this mean that you could download the file using stardock central on one machine, copy the file to perhaps a 500MB usb thumb drive and then install the file on a different machine without using stardock central?

I guess what I'm asking is if stardock central is needed for the download only and the installation can proceed essentially standalone, or is stardock central an integral part of the installation process?

Good query Mumblefratz since it hits the nail on the head as far as what I am trying to do. I imagine Kryo will be cruising by soon enough...

SDC opperate on as a torrent?

id otn know i have SDc on my work and home pc and just use the archive features to move it and install it on my home machine

omg this sucks i have to go to work at 5pm and right now its 420... wish i could download it early on but noooo i cant so i will be downloading it at 9pm and then waiting for 30mins to 1hr GRRRRRRRRR!!!! come on at least make it read to start downloading at 430 or 445 PLEAESE LOL!!!

SDC is really the best way, since an update to GC2 itself will also be required and there won't be a standalone patch for that as far as I'm aware. I'm not sure why you're opposed to SDC though.

i agree. SDC is rather simple much better then steam.
