Crazy Idea

Not sure if this is even possible. I just thought it would make for one heck of a wild ride.

I think I saw somewhere that they were thinking about making, or someone had suggested that they make "Hero" types for GalCiv. Whether that was meant for ships being the "Hero" type or an actual individual is unknown to me.

So here is my Idea....

Say you built a fighting ship and sent it out on patrol. For some unknown reason the captain and crew go rouge and make a preemptive strike on another Civ, causing an international incident and throwing the two governments into bitter war. I guess something like the ambassador getting knocked off, in the galaxy changing events we currently have. Now let us say for an example you are watching over the galaxy, you happen to see one of your own ships speeding away in a direction, you know for a fact, you did not give orders for. Now you must intercept and destroy your own ship.

Also for other reasons you have crews and ships defect to other Civs.

Planets have morale. Maybe we could give morale bonuses and penalties for ship crews, allowing them to fight better or worse during an engagement. How the crew morale would increase could be through victories and or objectives achieved, morale could go down by having other ships lost in battle and just sitting around not doing a damn thing.

Just some crazy ideas. Comments?

P.S. If anyone has thought of these before and posted them, I did not mean to step on any toes.

I like the idea of ships going rogue, I always thought they followed (nearly suicidal) orders rather too blindly. However this event should either be toggleable, or depend on *very* extreme circumstances. If a military strike hinges on a ship that decides to go rogue, some may find it very annoying. Me, I like anything that shakes up the game a little bit.

interesting idea, and I love it!, except imaging a huge military, and alot of battle group, and randomly, 3 of your best battle group defect, and you have a tough time resolving it. if this is going to be implemented, the rate happen need to be put in a very small figure, or else, we will start to see the phenomena of player at war with their own military units, and same thing happen to the opponents as well...

All pretty good ideas. Thanks for your replies guys.

Sounds cool. I doubt we'll see anything like this in Galciv 2. But if enough people like the idea, maybe Stardock will include this in 3.

It is a cool idea.

That's the problem with a great game like this one... you just want more, more, and more!

This ship insubordination could be an event, like the event when your planets revolt.

Sorry, can't resist...

Okay, now we need rebel ships, terror stars, carriers, orbital bombardment, multiplayer, hotseat, and tactical combat, all in the next patch. That should be easy to program in an hour or maybe two!

Maybe this could be a mega event. Not that the event itself is so mega, but the if it leads to galactic warfare, its pretty mega

Hey now... Be nice!

Disclaimer: The following numbers are guesstimated.

Terror Stars 25 Threads created
Orbital Bombardment 30 Threads created
Tactical Combat 35 Threads created
Hot Seat 37 Threads created
Multiplayer (Tied in with Hotseat)
Carriers 758,642 Threads created and counting (give or take one or two)

Rebel Ships as you would like to call them...
(As I have described them)
Only 1 that I am aware of.

I guess it could be used as an event of some sort. I guess it would take quite a bit of time to program.
