Space Rangers 2 is now on TotalGaming.net

No DRM, no fuss, and only $19.95 for this award winning epic space game!

http://totalgaming.stardock.com/games/?id=sr2

Stardock is pleased to announce that Space Rangers 2 is now on TotalGaming.net.  Space Rangers is one part strategy game, one part adventure game, and one part space simulation.  It has received very good reviews (85% overall average making it one of the highest rated PC games of the last couple of years).

As Gaming Trends put it:

There is not a single second wasted in the entirety of the game and there is no mistaking it for a small game. Space Rangers 2 is epic in scope, gargantuan in size, and goes so far beyond fun it borders on ridiculous. I am absolutely drunk in love with this magnificent title and have forced myself to finish this review just so I can get back to saving the universe - with a little pillaging on the side.

The game is truly epic in scale. A great deal of it feels like a role playing game. Other parts feel like a strategy game. It's difficult to describe the genre since it encompasses so many different elements. It's the same difficulty many had explaining Star Control 2. Adventure game? Strategy game? Action game? All of the above?

You can read their full review here.

But now you can get the award-winning Space Rangers 2 digitally via TotalGaming.net.  The same convenience (and no DRM) found in Galactic Civilizations II can be had with Space Rangers 2. Just press a button and install it to your machine. Get a new machine 5 years from now? No problem, just re-download it.

With TotalGaming.net you can manage all your games from a single UI -- Stardock Central.  No renting, no DRM, it's your game, any time, anywhere.

And what about price? Space Rangers 2 is only $19.99!

I like SR2 so far, but I'm really bad at it. When I don't DIAF during combat, I run out of cash. heh.

I can't do the sodding quest where you're in a submarine and you have to retreive something from the ocean floor

If your having trouble. There's a couple cheats on gamefaqs.com. The cheats are actually not game breaking where you end up like god-like. Example there's two cheats, one gives you 100,000 but cost 300 points. (i'll explain the points later.) Then there's a cheat that halves the weight of all your item on your ship, that's 60 Points.

Note, the cheat that gives you 100,000-cash replaces how ever much money you have to 100,000. It does not add, so if you have 50,000 and use the cheat, now you have 100,000. Worse, if you have 500,000 and use the cheat, you go back to 100,000. So, you really can't get too rich using the cheat and let me tell you, 100,000 might be alot, but its not. Later in the game, say around year 7-10, there will be ships for sale that are more than 100,000 so you have to earn your cash for those.

Now, the way the point system seems to work is everday you get one point. Say you use the 300 points cheat. You can't use anymore cheat until some time later when you accumulate enough points. So you wait 300 days and accumulate 300 points and decide, I want more cash. Then you realize, I have 70,000 and the cheat would only bring it up to 100,000, so that seems like a waste. You decide you want the 60 point cheat and so you use 60 points. So it seems like you have 240 left, WRONG. When you enter the cheat, it uses up all the points. You could have 5000 points and if you use a cheat, all that is gone.

On the bright side, kinda, you could use the 60 points cheat after 60 days. But you never know cause who knows, you might need that 300 point money cheat in the future since you might end up broke. And if your not, you really don't need to cheat at all.

This is one of the most fun games I've ever played. I hope they patch / re-tanslate it.

A dedicated Stardock forum for Space Rangers 2 has been created here http://tgnforums.stardock.com/?forumid=424

This forum is a waste. I added one post and used the word "game" referring to SR2 and it created a link for an advertisement for dealtime.

I would say stay away from these forums and do not even bother to go there. Using people's posts for shameless advertising is very low indeed.

???? I have looked at your post and I haven't seen the link you are referring too. That is strange.

I can't buy the game using stardock. I also don't see the [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog] described below when I do a regedit.

Message is:

"Assembly Load Trace: The following information can be helpful to determine why the assembly 'App_Web_i0rh33jm, Version=0.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' could not be loaded.

WRN: Assembly binding logging is turned OFF.
To enable assembly bind failure logging, set the registry value [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog] (DWORD) to 1.
Note: There is some performance penalty associated with assembly bind failure logging.
To turn this feature off, remove the registry value [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fusion!EnableLog]."

EDIT:
I can't buy it on my second PC using stardock, nor can I buy tokens. Same error. Just looked on both PCs. I can't buy ANY games. Kindly advise.

Edit 2: Okay. I had to follow a few more links to buy it at totalgaming/stardock --"more info" link at top right of main page. Had to "try" to buy 10 game tokens, then cancel, then pick the game from their SECOND listing of games. That worked and I am downloading using SDC. Funny how you can't buy it directly from the main page by clicking the "buy now" link.

Yes it is there. As stated by a Yarlen,
Well, that point aside (since lots of other forums do the same thing)
this is suppose to be on "lots" of forums.

I personally have never seen it until this one. I will not use the forum again due to my posts being nothing more than hyperlinks to online retailers of some nature.

Unless people put their collective foot down, these types of things will become more and more normal. If this is what people allow, this will be the best you can expect in the future until they figure out a way to try to use people postings in more marketable ways.

It is a nasty slope to slide down and one I will not personally take the ride on as a user. I will give up on forums before I am used in this fashion.

Yes it is there.

Then, I must have a very strange setting since I don't see any link in your post that is associated with advertising . And the word "dealtime" doesn't appear in the HTML source of the page.

Unless you are speaking about the ads on the right column, but those aren't associated with your post specifically.

Check out the last word in my first post. The word "game" (in this sentence: Would someone be so kind as to tell me what the manual is like for the game?)is the hyperlink and it is in green.

If you do not see it tell me what pop-up ad blocker you are using, so I can use it too!

It is now no longer associated with dealtime, but it now says shopping.com.

Well, I use IE 6. But I don't seen an hyperlink under the word "game" in the HTML source. And I don't think a pop-up blocker will modify the sourche of the HMTL. It is very strange.

By the way, I found a way to block IntelliTXT ads in Firefox:

http://greasemonkey.mozdev.org/ (a scripting Firefox extension)
http://www.fibble.org/archives/cat_greasemonkey.html (a JS script that does the job, at least until the bad guys change the method they use to serve ads)

Thank you very much. I have now started using FF and installed this add-on. Now, no pop-up ads.

Thank you very much. Everyone should use this.

But how will you be informed about all the great products they have to offer if you turn it off? These companies offer us great deals, targeted to within an inch of our lives, and all they want in return is our sanity and all of our money. How can you not support this?

Grrr. If TotalGaming is going to do something like this, they could at least sound apologetic about it. Announcing exciting-sounding 'partnerships' with advertising companies is the oldest spin in the book, and (surprise) it still results in people being pissed off at ads.

NICE Game! I tried the demo; couldn't make a heck of a lot out of it except I wanted to play it. I spent most of my time on the robot battle ; the one you can intially get at earth I think it is... anyhows fun game and an awesome cheat-code system for cheaters to limit cheating and put a choke on the "god-mode" type of cheater.

Play it without cheats It's totally awesome; only hope I have left is that the developers/stardock endevour to update the game

Yup, its not bad (Though my human merchants keep getting killed by those pesky dominators)... But I've got two problems, 1) Bought it when I was redoing BG (seems that's a common thread...*grin*) and 2) Bought the box... Does Anyone know of a way to get rid of the StarForce crap that came with it?

well use a *beware-evil-word* NO-DVD from the www.

that will also save time starting up the game.

Or use winxp64-bit version - i got 10 or more identified copy protection drivers running and my system still works without problems, but then i don't use my writer to make a copy.

Especially since SR2 is one of the best games of the world.

i have the demo, but i keep getting timed out before i end my first turn! i was just about t o launch the first time, but i had to pause to eat dinner. when i got back, warpeed to another system, the game would not let me go any further. now i can not do ANYTHING!

in my demo's, i would like to play the game a little bit, this is not making me want to buy it.

too bad that the demo runs bad - but the full game rocks
it is like pirates in space (trading, missions, killing, looting)(not that you have to be a pirate) using a kind of continuous turn mode to give you maximum control if you like.

have the demo, but i keep getting timed out before i end my first turn!

if you managed to launch to space from the planet - or hit accidentally the space key then you already finished your first turn

my first game took over 10000 turns
