Was Wondering

Ok i was wondering about this. For example if i would make a weapon that had a name missle and made one called Missle Mk1 will the game use it i mean the AI or would it be possable to make weapons where you can only use and not the AI/Game? Same with ships also.

If it's in the tech tree, the AI can research it and use it, no matter what it is. You can do things to try and keep it from them if you really want, like giving the tech for the weapon/hull to your race to start, and making the prereq to that tech IMPOSSIBLETECH so it can never be researched, but the AI can still steal it from you if it's lucky, or trade you for it if you're generous.

Could be wrong but I haven't been able to get that to work - the only way to really hide techs is to tie them to an alignment?

Right, as far as I know, tieing a Tech to IMPOSSIBLETECH does not hide it, but you won't be able to research it unless you start with it, someone trades it to you, or you steal it.

Tieing a tech to an alignment will hide it from the tech tree completely, at least until you get the Tech's alignment.

But then the AI can research it on its own. And the OP wanted to keep techs from the AI, not hide them from display.

Hmm sounds like it may be a little over my head to do. I came up with this idea casue i was modding techs and ships in Space Empires V,where i was adding the same tech but diff name and the AI couldnt use it . Guess things in this game are way different then hehe. Space Empires V seems a little easier to mod. hehe dont worrie i still like GalCiv 2 .
