If you could make a civ...

If you could make a civ...

What would it be like?...

Since there are so many ideas for civs out there, what civ would you make in your image?

I personally, would make an evil civ, like the Goa'uld.(or more like the Cuotl 'gods' from rise of legends)

Humans from Greg Egan's _Schild's Ladder_. Or maybe Humans from Vernor Vinge's _Marooned in Realtime_. Or even the Humans from _True Names_, also be Vinge.

I would make an evil civ, one in which my citizens are terrified all the time. My military would be top of the line, with the most destructive weapons in the universe. It would probably be a mix of the Borg and the Zerg.

I know the movie was absolutely horrible but the Alien race from " Battle Field Earth " with John Travolta, was pretty cool. They could have done so much more with that movie. An Extreme disappointment.

Also the "Predator" species would be rather interesting.

The Triumverites from Star Command: Revolution & Star Command: Deluxe, or the Nomads from the same games, both races were very cool(not to mention had cool Starship designs).

I use the Snathu pic and called them the Fuzzy-wazze. then I up the Planet quality and diplomacy.

Always thought it would be funny if the univers had little bears takeing over the galaxy.

I would have a planet of outcasts, ones exlied because they were themselves and have no were else to turn. They would be a good civ. because they accept peoples flaws and think that there is good in everyone

like "the land of misfit toys" from Rudolph? I'm gonna start making my flagship look like a Charlie-in-a-box!

I would like an empire modeled from the Empire of Leto II in the Dune series. Picture having navigators fold space for instance transportation. Fremen warriors in jihad across the galaxy, Bene Tleilax producing resources in axtol tanks and infiltrating enemies with face dancers, the forbidden technology of Xy, the research of the Mentats, the healing of the Suk, the manipulation of the Bene Gesserit. All under the control of the god emperor.

Ah, it would be grand...

Another civ I could make would be like the Orcs from Lord of the Rings. BOY what havoc I raise with those guys.

An entire game premise would be having your existing empire stumbling upon the Arachnids. (Book 1 - "In Death Ground", David Weber & Steven White; Conclusion - "The Shiva Option").

The Arachnids are an inhuman species that asks no questions first, just kills. Their race is shaped like huge spiders but act like the future robots of "Terminator" - their unrelenting purpose is to kill you. When one of your solar systems has been conquered, the entire population will be eradicated. Except for those small penned enclaves where remnants of your race will be held as a food source. Children are the perfect size! Unless you free them, generations of intelligent humans will be raised as cattle, watching their children dismembered and eaten before their eyes! Yick!

And this intelligent opponent has hundreds of warships that it has kept in storage (to fight the "Old Enemys", when they return). Fleet after fleet attacks you, pushing you back, system by system. Your technological advantage wreaks havok among them. You kill ship after ship. They take horrendous losses to destroy even one of your ships. But that loss is irreplaceable. Your fleet weakens with every battle and the enemy replacements keep pouring in. When will help arrive from your Inner Sytems? Will they be in time? Can you stop the ponderous alien advance?

Cool, Huh? I have reread these books several times (like Dune and Lord of Rings) because they have the "whole concept" really together. Highly recommended!

Its probably been done, but I'm trying to do some of the civs from the Star Trek series:

Vulcans (influence, diplomacy, research, morale)
Romulans ( military and espionage, but unfortunately espionage doesn't really give them that much of an advantage - more of a play style I guess, I think you could also put some in diplomacy to represent their craftiness)
Klingons (military, especially stuff like soldiering, courage, etc.)
Ferengi (put all into trade, econ bonuses)
Borg (population growth, weapons)

1. Ori (stargate)... if evil?
2. Goaould (stargate)
3. Borg (startrek)
4. Klingons??? why there's the Drengin which reminds me of the Klingons soooo much.
5. Aliens (except they have a machine hoocked up to their brains to make them smarter.)

I would like to make the borg (star trek), but they would unfortunatly be too overpowered. Besides, the Yor are practically the borg, only they aren't as powerful and can't assimilate people. Even their backstory is similar.

Not necessarily, they could be succeptable to mass drivers and missiles. They can only adapt to beam weapons.

I'll make the Borg. They'd need heavy Research, Repair, Range, Speed, Defense, Weapons, Loyalty (They're cyborg drones, please), Morale (They're cyborg drones, please), Influence (Not quite Cultural Assimilation...), Creativity, and Soldering bonuses. Negatives on Trade, Trade Routes, Diplomacy, Courage, Logistics (Who's ever seen a Borg fleet?). Their party? The Collectivists.

Yeah, I think they're overpowered.

I can picture the Klingons with Courage, Soldering, Weapons, Defense, and Luck bonuses.

I wish I could make a Halo mod where you get the elites and the brutes to fight eachother. lol, I could see hoardes of grunts attacking jackals. Then you could have the Hunters with slow birthrate, but with HUGE soldiering bonuses.

The "Q" from startrek...extreme influence and manipulation

The Dominion from Deep space nine...

The Galactic Confederation, led by Xenu. Pure evil of course, and the starships would have to look like Douglas DC-8 jetliners. That might actually be a fun ship design project... I might have to try that.

I would like to model a civ after the Eddorians (of Eddore, of course).

...and 50 credits to the person old enough to recognize the reference.

The Eddorians would be way overpowered - but you'd still have to worry about the Galactic Patrol.
