If you could make a civ...

What would it be like?...

Since there are so many ideas for civs out there, what civ would you make in your image?

I personally, would make an evil civ, like the Goa'uld.(or more like the Cuotl 'gods' from rise of legends)

Call me a perv, but I was always partial to the Syreen from the Star Control series.

"Mr. Hull, the Alliance Senate Committee on Interspecies Relations would like you to explain this earmarked request for 500 billion credits in one credit paper notes..."

"No, Mr. Hull, it was NOT appropriate to offer the Syreen Ambassador a stripper pole for her quarters. Yes, even if she DID accept it happily..."

How about that chick from the Heavy Metal movie, can't remember the race name, but if you saw the movie, you know who I mean. I think that would be perverted enough for you JanuHull, since she always wants to run around naked and stuff like that.

Yeah, I know the one you mean. The Syreen were a little less violent, though. They'd be hell on wheels in the Influence game.

To actually respond to the OP however, I would have to go with the Melniboneans from the Elric Saga's by Michael Moorecock. Awesome reads even if they aren't sci-fi. Chaotic evil... yeah that would be oh so sweet. I loved the sword, Stormbringer. It sucked the souls out of Elric's enemies and transferred their "aura" to him, giving him heightened abilities. But the sword really loved to "kill" and drain his friend's lifeforce since it somehow energized the sword/Elric even more. Kind of an oxymoron really... chaotic evil but yet you found that they tried to do "good"?!?

I would take a civ from Piers Anthonys' 'Kirlian Aura' series of books. I'd model it on the Polarians - circularity.

It would be fascinating to have a mod based on that series of novels - he has conceptualized several very fascnating galactic species - wish I had the time to do one. Alas...

I suppose I don't have much imagination in this respect. All I want are the Ancients/Alterans/Lanteans. I've already kinda made them, anyway.

Ah, there's another fan here! I agree; those were great books. Also, I'm not really the type to work on one either. Anyone who's both a fan and motivated?

I would have a planet of outcasts, ones exlied because they were themselves and have no were else to turn. They would be a good civ. because they accept peoples flaws and think that there is good in everyone.

I think it'd be cool to have a race like the Ori. You could still conquer planets, but for every planet you flip through influence, you gain a small percentage to all your abilities, the exact amount determined by the population of that world. seeing as the Ori become more powerful the more followers they have, could be an interesting thing to try.....

The Zentradi from Robotech. Or the Invid. Or the Robotech Masters. Or the Sentinels. Actually, cheesy as it sounds, I bet you could do a lot with it. Even make an RDF.

The Drack, from the movie "Enemy Mine" would make a fitting race. Zameez could be the leader.

Clan Jade Falcon from Battletech. That would be awesome!

I would like to model a civ after the Eddorians (of Eddore, of course).

...and 50 credits to the person old enough to recognize the reference.

Okay here is mine. I would have both the Empire (no not Star wars) and Foundation from the Foundation series books written by Asimov.

I think those are great books.

I would do the Taiden and the Higarins from the Homeworld series video game because I love those games as well.

Tell me what u guys think

The Borg.

Your weapons and defences would adapt to whatever your enemy had so you always have a perfect counter and attack without having to put all three types on a ship. And you would get a big bonus in land battles.

I was playing for awhile as the Humankind Empire Abh. They're a race of genetically engineered space-nobles who boss around landlubbing humans. Good space combat and diplomacy/influence bonuses for them. Not to mention blue hair...

Either the Daleks or the Cybermen from Doctor Who. The Daleks would have massive soldiering bonuses so they could EX-TER-MIN-ATE their enemies, while the Cybermen would have faster population growth due to converting others.

Got to go with the Puppeteers from Niven's Ringworld.

Anthropomorphic aliens annoy me.

The character I designed for the competition a few months ago came from a race with Native American style traditions. I think that would be cool, or something based on Ancient Chinese legends.
