Minor Races

Already asked about this, and I don't think so. The dumbing down of the minors was a deliberate choice.

At the very least, it would be nice if I could trade with them for all the resource starbases they like to spambuild without having to kick their butts for them. Their starbases never show up in the trade window. Nor do their ships.

If they're not going to be a colonial power, it would be nice if they weren't a resource hogging power, either. With the primary races spending the early game in a colony rush, the minors clean house on the resources since colonizing isn't one of their priorities.

Just conquer the planets in their system and then hand them over to them. From there on out just abuse the crap out of them like I try to do. Quite amusing and definitely adds some depth to the game in trying what you "can" and "can't" get away with.  

In my case, it would be "colonize". I tend to play ethical alignment. Not that I haven't tried an evil race, but the one time I did, the Torians were the dominant race out of the colony rush, and they decided to pulverize me before I had a military to speak of...

Technically, you could say that the Christian Crusades were "ethical" so... just look at it that way. Your conscience will thank you for it later!  
As far as the military thing, make friends with another evil race if you are having problems and become their best buddy. Trade, do whatever, just keep them on your side.

I actually liked the Minor races from the first Galciv. They threw in a good suprise to the mix.

Maybe someone can clarify this for me. What's the difference between the minor race and major races? (Story wise) Not asking about the game mechanics itself, but story wise.

The Minor Races didnt get Hyper Drive fast enough and werent able to expand into the galaxy like the others. Most of them decided to just culture spam everyone in the story, The Terran Alliance before the decided to war with the Drengin transported a lot of alien good through out the galaxy, usually these goods were manufactured by Minor Races.
