Alternative Metaverse & Statistics

GalCiv2 AltMeta+Statbot

I am happy to introduce a new AltMeta and Statbot for GC2, combined on one site.

The main page features rankings of Empires and Characters by AltMeta Score and Games Submitted.

Empire stat pages give graphs of various game statistics and rankings of the players in the empire.

Player pages give the same graphs for each individual character.

The AltMeta scores are a straight total, with scores decayed by 1/6 of their value per month;
after six months, scores are no longer counted at all. All stat graphs also cover only games
submitted in the past six months.

At this time the site only gathers data on the top 50 empires on the official metaverse,
and the characters within them. No unaligned players or other empires are inclued at this time.

This is a personal project, not endorsed or supported by Stardock, so direct any questions or
comments to me and me alone. Hopefully everyone finds this useful

I can't find anything quickly either, at least here on the forums or at the AltMeta site. I was on the MVC when this got hammered out, but I confess I can't remember the exact details and would appreciate a link or good description from one of the MVC leaders or maybe Kryo.

The Univeral, Galactic, and Solar lists sort games by map size (although I think Universal Mil includes all games?). The Mil vs. Civ creates separate ranking ladders for players who are not interested in military wins. Players who are good at a wide range of game types appear on multiple lists, but rut-loving folks like me might only be found on one of the six.

It was on the Core, are the links gone or broken? As I can't seem to find it with a quick look around over there now.

Anyway, GW's brief description pretty much covers it:

Universal/All - All victories, all sizes.
Galactic/Mil - Medium-Large Military wins
Solar/Mil - Tiny-Small Military wins

Universal/Civ - Huge-Gigantic non-miitary wins and losses
Galactic/Civ - Medium-Large """
Solar/Civ - Tiny-Small """

It's not actually been updated yet to accomodate Ascension or Immense maps (been really busy and it's not something I tend to remember when things slow down a bit...), but hopefully I'll get a chance to do that at some point.

Actually that's just part of the forum growing pains. It happens at every page break. When you post something that causes a new page to be added the new post won't appear until an additional reply is added and then both appear. Assumedly they'll get that fixed sooner or later. But in the meantime you can either double post and hopefully edit your second post or wait for someone to post after you.

As far as the documentation it was in the MVC area at the Core but that's apparently empty now. I periodically check-in but don't go to the Core nearly as often as I used to and haven't checked the MVC area for probably close to a year now.

There was a recent upgrade of the Core and the Archive and Trash areas are empty as well. Don't know what or when it happened but it seems that the original documents are gone. The only thing I have to go by are the links from the OP of https://forums.galciv2.com/151565, the AltMeta Class Beta thread.

Basically there was a little verbage describing the AltMeta score deprecation of 1/6th of its value per month until it decays to zero after 6 months and a bit of justification as to why this is a reasonable way to score folks.

Then there was a description of the classes which is essentially the information Kryo listed above.

There were another two sections, one that merely described the top ten lists for each of the 6 classes and All Time categories and one that merely listed all the character details. These are pretty self explanatory anyway.

The only other info was a description of the Data Chart options with a few suggestions of what size versus score or class versus score or score versus score charts could be useful for. If I recall correctly these were accompanied by a bunch of pictures that had been stored at the original AltMeta location but were lost when it was moved. In any case I don't believe this information was really all that helpful and people probably just had to figure out the charting options by themselves anyway.

That's all I can come up with.

Damn, I didn't realize it either. There was some info in there I would of chose to save had they let anyone know they would be doing that.
