AI attempts to trade alignment specific tech to me when I'm different alignment

Just a quick note -

In my last game the AI Altarians tried to trade a good alignment tech - Arnorian Battle Armor - to me when I was already declared Neutral alignment. The tech showed up in the text of their message requesting the trade but it wasn't included on the list of things being offered, so I didn't receive the actual technology when I accepted the trade. So it amounted to a request from them for a free tech I guess.

Not a big deal, but I just thought I'd mention it since it was kind of odd.

Yea, toward the end of the game when eveyone has pretty much finished the tech tree, the AI somtimes offeres a trade of Balanced Vision for Concepts of Righteousness or Concepts of Malice. I always take the trade in hopes I'll get one of those goodies, but it doesn't happen. Kooky AI.

I think that you should be able to use a tech traded for or stolen by invasion or espionage even if you're the wrong alignment. After all, you can capture a planet with an alignment specific wonder or super project and gain it's effect even if you're alignment is wrong. I've seen this work with both the mind control center and the artifical slave center. But it is interesting that there are no alignment specific trade goods.

The AI isn't kookie, real smart, you just gave them a free tech. Pretty smart there Brad

I would also like to back up this bug.

Its not really a major issue so i never bothered to report it.

This was fixxed for a whilel, i think 1.2 then it came up again in 1.3.

Hope a mod/admin/coder gets a look at this

Something similar happened to me yesterday. I was playing a midle size galaxy. From the original five opponents only two remained (the Drengin and the Iconian). Then came the UP resolution of "Let's be super dupper friendly and exchange X techs per race, how much should X be?" Of course nobody listened to my ambassador as he was saying that zero has a beaty in itself no other number can match. Anyway I started receiving some techs and among them I received Arnorian Armor. The thing is, I couldn't find it in my tech tree, so I'm not sure if I got thebonus or not. I'll check this later when i get home.

I received Arnorian Armor

Arnorian Armor is enabled by Tri-Strontium Armor for good alignment. If you actually got the tech it would add 5% to all ships hit points and you'd be able to see Arnorian Armor under the mass driver defense tab in the shipyard.

The Altarians are at it again! This time they wanted to give me "Subspace Rebounders" for "Balanced Vision" - a neutral tech they couldn't use either! There was nothing offered on either side of the trade table so I just hit accept to make them happy I guess lol.

I've also noticed that the 'Battle of the Gods' scenario starts you with these techs regardless of your alignment. In fact, you never get to choose an alignment because Xeno Ethics is already researched and the dialog doesn't come up.

I have seen it too. Could of sworn I have seen the AI trade Techs it does not have. But maybe it was just me. Anyway you can tell if he is Screwing you on a trade, it might be in the Text.. But it won't be in his Trade box on the lower Right.

Okay, cool, it isn't just me. I was Good and the Arceans just bugged me every turn to trade a Neutral only tech for Total Majesty. I mean, like every single turn until I agreed. Then of course, I discovered it didn't show in my tree, had no new projects or wonders to build... I suspected it was a gimic, but I finally relented for the sake of curiosity. Always nice to give away free tech.

Having same trade problem - it's really annoying that the AI never stops trying to trade it for really good techs. Do any of you Stardock people out there know how to fix this annoying glitch?

This has been around for a long time. I suspect that it started out as an error, but Stardock decided to leave it in just to keep people on their toes.
