Starbase Looks

I was thinking, since there are 5 types of ship hulls and extras, why not have starbases that look different for different races. The new looks could be attached with the ship styles and it would add another graphic aspect to the game.

What do you guys think?

The types of non-resource starbases (military, econ, research) are unique and this makes it easy to identify them visually. I think the resource type starbases are a problem to identify by sight. The resource starbase types would benefit by having a different appearance. What I do is rename the AI resource starbases (exp: KorxIflu3)
As to the OP topic ... Yes yorman, I think it would be great to have race specific starbase appearances, as long as unique types for military, econ, etc are used.

i like the idea of starbases customized like ships are!

As for easy identification, the appropriate icon (economy, military, or influance) can be stuck at the bottom left, like a player's empire logo is on a planet, eh?

Good ideas. If you do it, I suggest makeing the Military bases not quite so gawdy. Those massize attachments in the final level just look silly.

EDIT:

Oh yeah, the basic starbase models as Huge ship hulls would be kinda cool. Scaled down ofcourse. Just a thought.
