As I said over there, this is awesome. I saw Sins before it had a publisher and was definitely intrigued. The fact that you guys are the publishers has basically guaranteed that I buy it, provided my computer can run the game.

KICK ASS!

I've been keeping my eye on Sins as well--it's the only other space strategy game in which I've taken a genuine interest (aside from GC2, of course). I honestly can't think of a better company to be publishing it!

Yea, Martok expresses himself better than I did. What's really funny to me is the absolute, unwavering loyalty I'm feeling to this company...really, I don't know what's come over me. That little Saturn "S" symbol is becoming a very, very effective trademark!

Let's see here. Real time 4X strategy, tactical battles that can be left to the AI when necessary,in depth gameplay, interesting story line, great looking graphics, what more is there that I could want? This game definately has my interest, and if it turns out the way I think it is, my money is as good as spent. I will definately be keeping an eye on this one. Way to go stardock for bringing this to us.

I guess that's what happens when gamers make games for gamers I feel the same way. Stardock, you guys know how to cater to your fans, and for that you have won many loyal customers Cheers!

I gotta say, like these guys, this game looks and sounds pretty sweet. I am a pretty big fan of RTS games and I loved the Homeworld games (first one I played was Cataclysm, and I personally thought that it was a good game). I'll be looking forward to any more info you have on this game. And I know you guys wont rush the Ironclad team *cough* *cough*

Sorry for the necromancing, but it's just the perfect thread for this.
The issue I'm having is that my UserID and PW from here don't work there.
Over there it tells me my account isn't validated, which, as you can see, is not true. Yes, I'm using the identical login data directly from the eMail I was sent when I created the account I'm currently using.
Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Have your account info sent to you using the lookup form at: https://www.stardock.com/support/

It looks fine from what I can see at first glance. Your login info should be working fine - it's literally the same database and server which is being accessed. If you still have issues, please email [email protected]

No demo - no try - no buy.

I mean I pre-ordered : GalCiv Altarian Prophecy , GalCiv II and Dark Avatar BUT there I knew what to expect.

"Sins" are new game from new publisher and while pictures are nice ... until I try demo I will not even consider to buy not to mention pre-order.

Ironclad may be developing it, but we're the publisher.

Sorry, what I meant "new developer" .

Anyway I think you got the idea

It sure is a great business when you can con customers into paying in advance for a game that you have not yet developed. Would you ever pay for land or food without seeing it first.

So wait, if I pay $50 for it now, get to play it while it's being developed, have a say in the end product, and get a copy of the end product when it's done I'm a sucker. On the other hand, if I wait until the development cycle's over and pay $50 for it I'm not a sucker.

Right, you've sure got this one figured out. And on top of that, there's no "con" involved anyway. No one's claiming the current version's finished, it's a preorder where you get access to the beta as a perk. Silly Stardock, giving their customers extra stuff, what a bunch of suckers their customers are.

If you think beta testing software for free is a perk, then enjoy! Software testers make 65k a year to start.

An other one has been born!

So, you never eat at restaurants?

If you don't see any value in getting to participate in the development of a game, you're free to not preorder it. But some people do, and most who have preordered have been happy with that descision. What's more, those who weren't have time to argue for changes that will solve whatever problem they have before release.

I only pay for the food after I have eaten it. The tip will be proportionnal to the service level.

In so far as the pre-order issue is concerned, since you are an insider at Stardock you are heavily biased in favour of receiving money before delivery of the final software version. After all, its a free source of development capitol.

But the whole concept of companies selling software without proper testing is a thorn in my side and should be a magor concern for all game consumers.

well, I pre-odered it throwing u some support. I NEED HELP ON THE TECH TREE. Game looks like something ive been looking for. ill let ya what i think when I have played it.
I pre-ordered and have been playing the betas as they come out. I won't give it my official "thumbs-up" yet, but it's quite promising.

End of quote

well it is set to release in february

is it WORTH pre-ordering or not?? I need to know because I want to try this, but I don't want to waste my money if it isn't very polished/fun.

can you give us a more in-depth review please

Also, does this game have any semblance of a diplomacy/economic system? Or is like every other stupid RTS which is nothing but continous, repetitive war.
I have the beta. This game is very unique. One thing you will notice is how good the graphics are and how well the game runs. Worth the money, but I wouldn't blame you if you waited until Feb, which is just around the corner.
yes to diplomacy and economy. It has an extensive tech tree also. Oh and the main menu music kicks ass. I will start up SINS and just listen to the main menu music on full volume while doing chores around the house.
While Beta 4 shows off some of the basic diplomacy and economic systems, the final version takes both to new levels. The new economic and diplomacy systems are much more robust and detailed than any other RTS I'm aware of.

Is there any sort of conflict consider both are space strategy games? Sure one is turn base and the other rts, but why should I play both? Just curious, thanks for any feedback.
