Hi there! Having a great time with the mod, but something has come up. I have researched beam weapons all the way to Particle Cannon. I should have five beam weapons at this point, if I read the tech tree notes on your web site right. Unfortunately, all I have is the Beam Projector that you get from researching Beam Weapon Theory. For some reason the beam weapons are not comming up.
Otherwise I am having a great game.

I reloaded the game and now I have the first two weapons from the beam weapon family. Really odd.

Any and all ship models will be added to the mod. There are probably another 50 cool designs out there - just a question of how many have been made in some form that can be converted to .X files . The only small question would be about how true to canon the AI ships would appear. Perhaps (rebel?) minors of majors could use the less significant ships?


Hmmmm...what is needed to convert it to these x.files? Do you just need finished model made in 3dsmax? If so when modell is made...how should it be saved, in what kind of file? I dabbled little with poly moddeling, its testing my patience, having also problems adding textures and rendering is making me wanna kick my screen!(thats end result that is!)

I have a new god in my pantheon. I got the shivers when I researched enough tech to launch a Hyperion.

Ok I have an idea for the mod...if galciv2 engine would support it.Maybe it has been mentioned before, as its not new.

Instead of shields, why not add something like bio armor?Its very expensive and powerfull...at start only Vorlon, Shadows and First ones would have it.Other have to go hard way to reasearch...it would be ok against both massdrivers,rockets, but very good against laser tech...

Hmmm...shields would still have to be ingame, as Abbai have them...its just a thought, would be cool to work around it somehow...

Hi great work once again. i think i have a problem with the ships, no b5 ships show up in shiplist and i am along way down tech tree, any suggestions?

maybe you should built them by your own from hulls and parts?
or is it there are no b5 hulls available?

Pretty much, the end result has to be s99_Large_19.x or similar (the modguide has more details on naming). You need a 3d modelling program that can open the model you find with an exporter that saves the file in the directx format (*.x). So far I think the most success has been had with 3ds Max and the Panda exporter. Coplann's modding example is a very good tutorial on importing ships.

Taelon, the link that takes you to the download is this one: 47mb Zip. You will have to wait 15 seconds before the link appears (the library has a file size limit of 20mb).

Thanks for the links...they will be handy, especially modders guide and most importantly Coplanns guide.I will try modelling next week, will try to model some Brakiri vessels, using miniatures as concept art.

Edit: Awsome Movies Spaxspore...I cant imagine B5 mod without it, it adds so much to the depth..I really hope its not final!(also those you did for a ST are awsome as well, I keep switching betwean mods...lol can remeber i played vanilla GC2)

Rav...why not add icon representing rangers as that brosh they are wearing? Something like this :

I think it represents minbari souls and humans...you have to find someone good at paintshop to make you one.

LOL..I think I have edited this post 10 times...well, another question for all who play this mod, what do i need to reaserch to get colony module?I currently play as Custom race.

I have the B-5 mod installed with GalCiv2 ver. 1.4x.
Playing as Earthforce, how do you build colony ships?
In the shipyard there is no colony component showing.

I started with Centauri...you have to go to shipyard...find cargo hull, than to modules and build it.But Its odd thant it doesnt show up with custom race!There seem no way to research it either!

It is possible that this is problem with new update...as only races that dont get colony module are Vorlons and Shadows.
Awsome starting planets, but still they seem underpowered during my short game..maybe they need to start with slightly more tech and
having more precursors artifacts scattered around surface would be great as well.

I figured it out. Reinstalled mod over clean
GalCiv2 reinstall. Now everything is fine. Must
have had a corrupted file somewhere.
B5 is a kick butt mod. Hope Star Trek mod is
just as good once next update is applied. (Lots
of bugs and crashes still in that one.)
P.S. Spaxspores additions to both mods ROCK!

All of the races, except for Vorlons and Shadows, have access to the colony module - you just have to create the design in the shipyard. There are only two core designs that will show up in the shipyard, I will make sure there is one for each of the utility craft in the next version.

Here is the full size version of that last combat viewer screenshot: Londo gave me the Centauri battleships to fight those overbearing Vorlons.

Edit: Just to say once more and ask if anyone experienced similiar problem as I did...why doesnt custom race get colony module.Its very annoying...i reinstalled the game, reinstalled the mod and i still get same problems over and over again, custom race, dreadlords hull modell, no colony module.I choose any other hull, same thing...how can i check this issue, what file i need to open and edit to make it work...

Ok I reinstalled again...as long as i keep all hull tech, my custom race beholds has colony module.

I also got cheats working, got help from forum...when use cheats in game to spawninor races i still havent got any b5 races.I havent either encountered any b5 minor races..just tried it yeasterday.I guess rav havent changed their name when spawning event happens...

You can't change the random events at the moment (except for alignment events). I'm sure they will make it mod(able?!) eventually

Erm, Rav. Lemme ask again. What would you like artistic players to do with the pic of the Rangers pin?
Maybe I could do something if I had an idea of what you have in mind...
