What game should I be play to see if I like GC II?

sorry if this is a double post.

I think I posted this in the wrong forum. I hope this is GC II general forum this time. Not shure how I got to the other forum lol

I have downloaded the GC II demo, tried it for about 20 turns, liked it but still no feel for the game. Never tried the combat yet. I forgot I have GamesMania wich has about a 100 games to play for a flat monthly fee. I forgot I had GC there and tried it for only a few turns, but never got a feel for the game. I think after playing 20 or so turns of GC II I have a feel for the game.

My question is, should I continue with the GC II demo or the full version of GC I, to see if I really like it and should buy GC II. I want to play on bigger maps, and the demo only has small.

What are the differences in GC I and GC II? If I don't like GC I will I like GC II still? I like the demo, but feel I am missing out since I don't want to devote my time to the demo and the game ends after 100+ turns.

What do you guys think?

Buy the game and update to update 1.31.

Your just wasting time with anything else.

GalCiv 2 has a steep learning curve, so it might take a while to get a feel for the game. beyond that, you should have an enjoyable experience.

If you enjoy 4x games, then GalCiv 2 should be a good game for you. Before I got it, I might play a few games of Civilization every 6 months. Now I play this game almost daily.

I didn't like the first Galactic Civilization, it seemed like it was just a flat rush to get the capability to make the biggest ships or die. The learning curve was too steep for me to be comfortable with it.

I find GalCiv 2 is much more accessible, it's easier to make rhyme and reason of it. You know why people declare war, it's pretty obvious what you need to get weapons and defenses and how to make them stronger, and in the difficulty modes I play at(usually the 'Challenging' level) I don't have to rely on strict research or progress 'paths' in order to survive and succeed.

Luck, as in the determination of who controls what resources and planets early in the game, who gets the most 5,000 BC anomalies, etc, can be a highly noticable factor.. but in the short and midgame you can create your own luck, good or bad, and change how things play out.

I don't know if the demo lets you play with the ship editor, but it's very cool and fun if you're willing to spend time with it. You can put a lot of 'flavor' into the game session by the use of custom ships, it becomes another way to play out a philosophy or worldview for your empire if you so wish.

Ok guys, I will play with the demo until I can get the game either this weekend or next weekend. Wish me luck in getting it this weekend guys.

Yeah I have been trying to make my own ship, very frustrating putting wings on, get the left side curve down, but when put on the right side, curve goes up, forgot how i got it to go down, hitting to many buttons guessing lol.

I don't remember if it was in the demo or not, but the 1.31 version of the full game has dials in the ship designer so you can rotate those parts any way you want.
