So I just "found" this game

I have been playing this game for a while now on normal and was starting to get kind of bored. I bumped up the difficulty a few notches and discovered a whole new game ( played large galaxy with 9 opponents). I think this is the experience the devs intended. Glad to have discovered what the rest of you already know and sorry for wasting your time with this pointless post.

You're not waisting our time, neither is your post pointless. You enjoy the game just as we do. You have every right to share that with us. Have fun and enjoy the game. Come to the boards here more often to there is always something to talk about, and excelent support if you need game help or it ever starts bugging out on you. Welcome to the galciv community and overall have fun with it.

Not to criticize, but I can see where "normal" difficulty giving the human an advantage might confuse players. I think "intelligent" should have been called normal, and adjust as needed. When I see normal in a game, I assume it means the CPU and human are even resource-wise.

I think the default setting is fine; it's for brand-new players who have played few or no turn-based strategy games. "Veterans" will automatically upgrade the difficulty to something that sounds challenging.

"Normal" I think, in this case, is refering to what would be a normal challenge for a human.

BTW You will find the game is a completely different experience based upon the size of the map, as well.
