Ships designed by players

is there a way to actually delete them from the game? if i finished playing as a civ with hundreds of my own ship designs, how do i 'clean' this civ so that the computer doesn't use my designs when we stert playing a new game and i'm playing a different civ, or when i want to play the same civ but don't want the same designs

i have the impression that with a new game, the custom designs created during a previous game are still there

They reside in My Documents/My Games/GalCiv2/ships.

Just delete the files.

ok, but is this folder only for custom player ships and i can safely delete everything, or is it also for Stardock designs?

I would like to be able to Delete Stardock's ship. These are useless, except the "base" drawing.

I would love to organize the starships in the shipyards by folders. Some would be only the design, well others would be battleships... etc...

I'd like to delete these as well, but you can't so I obsolete them as they become available.

They reside in My Documents/My Games/GalCiv2/ships.

If you're playing Metaverse games you need to delete the files in My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2\metaverse\ships.

Mod the GC2Ships.xml file. Be careful though, as while most of the ships are expendable, some of them are required for the game to function properly. And obviously you won't be able to play on the metaverse with that change, only regular games.

I think there should be a "clear user ships" and "clear all ships" option in the game's setup menu. I clear my ships before every game. It's kind of a pain, would be nice if the game could do that on the fly.

Isn't this something planned for DA?
I remember having read something about this somewhere on the site... adding an option to delete custom ships.

I wish the designs were race-specific instead of hull style-specific, so that I wouldn't have to obselete all my Altarian ship designs when playing as the Korx, etc.

Once you select the show user ship tab on the shipyard and build window, you never have to see the core designs again except after a load. Easier than having to obsolete as they become available.

I sometimes run into old designs popping up that I'd forgotten. At times there better then my current ones, so I just start producing them.
